Name of Activity: Dodgeball

# of participants required 2 Teams made up of at least 6 players each

Facilities required/environment Playing field shall be a rectangle at least 50 feet long and at least 30 feet wide/ ideal measurements: 60’ x 30’ (identical to volleyball court) Precautions Fall risk

Sequence/Directions (Details of how a to move through the activity from start to finish) This can be less than ten steps of more than ten steps…

1. Gather a group of 12-20 people who would like to play Dodge ball

2. Spit the group up into two separate teams with 6-10 players on each

3. Find a space that is at least 50 feel long and 30 feet wide

4. Depending on how many players are on each team determines how many balls are lined up in the middles of the court (6 players per team = 6 balls lined up in the middle, 8 players per team = 8 balls lined up in the middle)

5. Once all the balls are lined up in the middle of the court, all the players line up at the back of the court on their side and wait for the whistle to blow

6. Once the whistle blows everyone speeds to the middle of the court and grabs the balls (first come first serve situation)

7. Then you quickly back up whether you got a ball or not while lifting up your head watching out for incoming balls. –At the same time, you avoid and “dodge” any ball that is being thrown at you.

8. Then you try and throw the ball at the opposite team hitting them anywhere from the shoulders down (if this occurs then the player who was hit is out)

1 9. When you throw a ball at a player of the opposite team and the player catches the throw then the person who threw the ball is out (the player who caught the ball then brings a player of their team back onto the court) and the first play out becomes the first back in.

10. These actions continue until one of the teams has been completely eliminated, resulting in the remaining team winning the match
