Homework for the Week of October 13-17 INTRO TO PSYCH MONDAY– Intro to Psych Warm-Up: Which of the Neo-Freudians’ theories do you agree with the most and why?

Agenda:  Projective Tests – Inkblot Examples, Sentence Completion, Box Doodling. What is good and bad about these tests?  Who are the NeoFreudians? A quick reviewing using NeoFreudian PowerPoint  What do we say about Freud’s ideas today?   Can Body Type determine Personality? William Sheldon’s Body Type Theory.  What are the Trait Perspectives? A quick review using Trait Perspectives PowerPoint  Complete a Personality Plus Scoring Sheet on Yourself. o Choose 1 word from each row that best describes you. o Add the total of each column for a score. o Check on the chart to see what your high scores mean.  Complete the North Dakota Null-Hypothesis Personality Questionnaire. Turn in. I’ll give you your results tomorrow in class.

 Pass out Personality Review Sheet. – Test is Wednesday!!!

Assignments:  Complete your Personality Plus Scoring Sheet on Yourself. Then have someone take another one with what they think of you. Compare the results for when we return from break.  Test on Personality Chapter - Wednesday. Study Guide due on Wednesday.

TUESDAY– Intro to Psych Warm-Up: Compare your personality profile to the one a friend or relative did on you. Why do you think they were similar or different?

Agenda:  Pass Back your North Dakota Null Hypothesis Personality Test Results. Do NOT share your results with anyone until told to do so. Discuss the Barnum Effect.  Socio-Cultural Theory of Personality PowerPoint  Learning Perspective PowerPoint  Humanistic Perspective’s view on Personality PowerPoint  Begin working on Picture Notes for Learning, Humanistic and Socio-Cultural Approaches (pg. 332-337). Provide a brief explanation (2 pts each) and a best effort picture to demonstrate each (3 pts each). 25 total points o John B. Watson & B.F. Skinner Behaviorism o Albert Bandura’s Social-Learning Theory o Abraham Maslow’s Self Actualization o Carl Rogers’ Self Theory o Socio-Cultural Approach

Assignments:  Read about Humanistic Theory pg. 334-337.  Finish your Study Guide – Due Tomorrow!  Study Review Sheet, Study Guide for TOMORROW’S TEST! WEDNESDAY – Intro to Psych Warm-Up: Think of a question you still have to ask before the test.

Agenda:  Study Guide due today!  Test on Personality Chapter Today!

 Personality Internet Lab. Complete your Personality Test Type 1 after you complete these. 1. www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp Click on the D Keirsey description & the J. Butt description when done and read the results. 2. www.viewzone.com/luscher.html 3. http://www.trans4mind.com/personality/ Do the extraversion/introversion test and if time choose one of the other tests (please do not do the sexuality section).

Assignments:  Complete your Personality Test Type 1 for tomorrow after you take the three online tests about yourself.  Read pages 410-413 as an intro to the psych disorders unit.

THURSDAY – Intro to Psych Warm-Up: What makes a person abnormal? Describe the most abnormal person you’ve ever seen.

Agenda:  Discuss yesterday’s Internet Lab. Which one did you find most accurate and why?  Turn in your Type 1 on the Online Personality Tests.  Go over yesterday’s test. Retakes are on Friday after school.

CREATE YOUR OWN STUDY CARDS POCKET BOOKLET:  Take a long piece of paper and fold the bottom about a quarter of the way up.  Fold the piece of paper into a tri-fold and glue the creases.  Label each pocket CAUSES – SYMPTOMS – TREATMENTS  As we work through each disorder fill in the information on your card using your textbook and in-class notes. ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY UNIT:  Normal/Abnormal: Who Decides? Introduction to Disorders Power Point  Defining Psychological Disorders Notes – put on the front of your Abnormal Psych Pocket Book  Dangers in Labeling the Mentally Ill – The Rosenhan Study

Assignments:  Read & take notes on your notecards on pages 426-429 in textbook on schizophrenia. Be sure to describe the Symptoms for each of the 3 Types and Explanations of Schizophrenia. – Due Tomorrow! FRIDAY – Intro to Psych WARM-UP: Which symptoms of schizophrenia are most difficult to treat and why?

Agenda:  Finish up Introduction to Disorders Power Point

SCHIZOPHRENIA  Symptoms, Types and Explanations of Schizophrenia review of notes. Schizophrenia PowerPoint  Demonstrating Schizophrenia. Quick reading passage and video clip from The Brain DVD Module 26: Symptoms (5:39 minutes).

Assignments:  Start reading pages 415-419 on Anxiety Disorders and complete Anxiety Disorder note cards. Be sure to include definitions for symptoms, 5 types of anxiety disorders and explanations/causes of anxiety disorders.
