COMPANY PROFILE AND FACT FILE INTRODUCTION Hot tubs and spas are one of the fastest growing domestic lifestyle products, with UK sales over 2004 double that of the previous year (according to British and Irish Spas and Hot Tub Association). There are currently over 100,000 UK homes with a hot tub.

One of the leading providers of hot tubs in the UK is Hindhead Hot Tubs, a multi-million pound business which sells over 500 hot tubs a year to clients who include private individuals, leading international hotels, high profile celebrities, property developers and health clubs.

The Managing Director of Hindhead Hot Tubs is Steve Andrews, who founded the Surrey based company over twenty years ago and has built the firm into a multi-million pound business and one of the leading suppliers of hot tubs throughout the UK.

Steve and his team have personally designed and specified many of the products that the company sells. The hallmarks of the company are quality, attention to detail and personal customer service. The company’s success is reflected in the fact that each year, there are a growing number of new and repeat business customers who choose Hindhead Hot Tubs as their hot tub supplier.

HISTORY OF THE COMPANY Steve founded Hindhead Hot Tubs in 1982, after observing the popularity of hot tubs whilst living in California. Spotting a gap in the UK market, he astutely decided to introduce Californian spa style and sophistication to the UK Home Counties.

1 Through hard work and a good understanding of his customers, Steve has built up Hindhead Hot Tubs, from a niche firm, which sold four hot tubs in 1982, to a multi-million business which now sells over 500 hot tubs a year.

Bought up in Mallorca and speaking in Spanish, Italian and French, Steve completed his education in Guildford. During the recession of the early 1980s, Steve relocated to California. Here he noticed at the coastal town of Hermosa Beach, just off the Pacific Coast Highway, the popularity of hot tubs with everyone from Hollywood stars to business leaders to successful families. Such was the ease of maintenance and cachet of hot tubs that practically every condominium and beachfront villa had a hot tub, including the beach condominium where he was staying.

Returning to the UK in 1982 Steve set up Hindhead Hot Tubs and acted as an agent for Californian Cooperage, one of the first manufacturers of hot tubs, selling models that were beautifully constructed of cedar wood. His first customer was his father, Derek, who at the age of 83 still regularly uses a hot tub, albeit now a more modern model.

Today, Hot tub design has become far more sophisticated, and the latest designs are manufactured from a tough durable acrylic with features such as six to 60 variable speed jets, in- built sound systems and multicoloured programmable underwater lighting. Other features can include sound systems and televisions. The hot tubs are designed to be used all year and can transform a garden or penthouse terrace into an extension of the indoor entertaining space.

2 Gazebos can be fitted around the hot tubs, creating an attractive covered living space, which can be used throughout the year in total privacy with complete wind protection.

In keeping with these market trends, Hindhead Hot Tubs now has three branded ranges, the traditional hot tub, a large round cedar wood or teak vat with jets and bubbles, the five seat Tango range with five different models and the eight seat Platinum range with four models.

Additionally, Hindhead Hot Tubs also offers saunas, steam rooms, combined swimming pool and spas and a whole host of hot tub accessories, providing a comprehensive domestic leisure lifestyle solution.

Most people like the open-air experience, and vary the water temperature, to cool off in the summer months, or to soak in the steamy water in the depths of winter, even in the snow. Surprisingly you don’t feel the cold when you get out and is the best way to enjoy it. Do bear in

5 mind that you would not want to be too far from the warmth of the house and having the site protected from the wind is essential in exposed areas. Do take advantage of any view, and the night sky.

HOT TUBS - THE HEALTH BENEFITS The beneficial effects of bathing in warm waters have been recognised since Roman times. This is backed by recent clinically proven research, suggesting when you plunge into a spa or hot tub, the warm, bubbling massaging waters can reduce blood pressure, improve circulation, ease aching muscles and joint inflammation due to arthritis. There is even evidence that the massaging waters can help reduce cellulite.

6 Relaxing in the massaging waters is one of the best ways to unwind after a hard days work and is particularly enjoyable in the depths of winter. Our miserable climate is no bar to hot tubs. New Zealand and Canada, with more extreme winter weather than the UK, have the highest levels of ownership in world.
