Notes:

Typically, the only Blood Bank departments that will need to be defined are:

Blood Bank – prefix “BB” Blood Bank Send Out – prefix “SOBB” Blood Bank Charge – no prefix

 Each department may have a unique prefix or share a prefix with another department  Each prefix sets up an accession wheel which resets daily  The Blood Bank Charge Department is used for Charge type tests where no specimen is resulted

Example specimen number: 0112:BB000007R US -> MMDD:PrefixNumberPriority Canada -> DDMM:PrefixNumberPriority Blood Bank Test Dictionary – “T” Type (pg. 1)

Notes:

 Print numbers determine the order in which tests print on patient reports and in result entry. The following considerations should be made:  Assign each “T” type test leaving a space between the numbers for additions and/or corrections  Assign “P” and “G” type tests a lower print number than each of the components

"T" Type Test  single resultable test  Ex: Anti-A "P" Type Test  Profile - cluster of "T" and "P" type tests from the same department. Profile names only appear on specimen reports.  Ex: ABO: Anti-A, Anti-B, Anti-AB, A Cells, B Cells

"G" Type Test  Group - cluster of "T", "G", and "P" type tests from different. Group names do not appear on patient reports.  Ex: ABO/RH: ABO, RH

"C" Type Test  Charge - tests which are ordered to generate a charge  Ex: Venipuncture, Filter Charge

“B” Type Test  Resulted with a blood type. The value entered as the result of this test will file to the patient/unit/donor Blood Bank History.  Ex: BT - Patient Blood Type

“AG” Type Test  Used for antigen ID testing. This type of test allows the user to enter multiple antigens tested with a Positive or Negative value. The values entered for this test will file to the patient/unit/donor Blood Bank History.  Ex: AGID – Antigen ID

“AB” Type Test  Used to result antibody ID testing. This type of test allows the user to enter multiple antibodies. The values entered for this test will file to the patient/unit/donor Blood Bank History.  Ex: ABID – Antibody ID

“ABS” Type Test  Used to result Antibody Screen interpretations.  Ex: ABS – Antibody Screen

“X” type test  Used to result Crossmatch compatibility.  Ex: XM – Crossmatch Billing:

The billing code is sent to the Billing/Accounts Receivable Module during the midnight run. The charge that appears on the patient's bill is determined by the charge associated to the BAR Procedure. The LIS does not send the charge associated in the Test dictionary. MEDITECH strongly advises associating the billing code at the highest level possible. Billing only "looks" down one level to retrieve a billing code. If no billing code is associated at the first or second level, no billing occurs. “T”-Type (pg. 2) “T”-Type (pg. 3) “T”-Type (pg. 4) “T”-Type (pg. 5) Blood Bank Test Dictionary – “P” Type (pg. 1) “P”-Type (pg. 3) “G”-Type (pg. 1) “G”-Type (pg. 3) Blood Bank Test Dictionary – “C” Type (pg. 1) Blood Bank Test Dictionary – “B” Type (pg. 1) “B”-Type (pg. 2) “B”-Type (pg. 3)
