Good evening and thank you for joining us tonight. We have had a busy start to the year! We were lucky enough to have two great visits for our Author Author program, Anthony Horowitz for grades 5-8 and Nancy Krulik for grades 1-4. The children were very excited to see both authors. Thank you to Author Author co-chairs Amy Kim and Christina Binaghi and to all the volunteers for all your hard work.

On another note, this year the HSA Board will be chairing the Earth Awareness/Green Team. We have started off the year with the Crayon Initiative, with crayon collection boxes in every Pre-K-4th grade classroom, in the vestibule and in the main office. Please be sure to recycle any unwanted crayons. Gardening supplies were also purchased for the HP Green Club at school. Look out for the endangered species coming soon!

Grades 3-8 attended a special assembly on Tuesday called the Signature Project, part of our Science/Art Enrichment program. The Signature Project is an exhilarating live performance that weaves together science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) through a unique form of storytelling. Both students and teachers enjoyed the show. Thank you to Ally Murphy for bringing us this amazing assembly!

We also just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of the great moms who are always helping out and lending us whatever time they can spare. We appreciate all that you do!

KPA Report: Liz Rhee Thank you to the HSA Board and school staff for kicking off another great year! The KPA board along with the Korean parents, are always looking for ways to support the HSA, the school and the community. We have already started our Woori Mart gift card sales. And with the revenue, we donated $200 to the Harrington Park library in October. We are thankful that our town has a library for the kids to gather to read, and participate in the many programs the library provides. We are always holding meetings there and making our copies, and wanted to just appreciate them in our community. We will continue with our Woori Mart sales every month, and instead of Kimchi Sales this year, we will venture into selling Korean side dishes hopefully by end of November. Looking forward to an amazing 2017-18 year!

Closing: Thank you for attending tonight’s meeting and hope to see you in January for our next HSA meeting. All meeting minutes are on the website to review.
