MATERIALS CHECKLIST

TRAINING MATERIALS BY SEGMENT

Pre-training preparation:  Appropriate Native American posters and quotes or proverbs posted on the training room walls are recommended to create a supportive learning atmosphere.  Posters depicting children and families, both historical and contemporary, are appropriate.  Native American artifacts and colorful tablecloths can also be utilized for the registration and food tables to welcome participants.  Registration materials, including Participant Workbooks and name tags, should be prepared in advance.  Supplemental resources, including pictures, posters, sayings, poems, proverbs, and prayers are available on the Tribal STAR website: http://theacademy.sdsu.edu/TribalSTAR

Activity 1C  Prepare table cards (found in the Trainer’s Supplemental Materials) by folding them in half (like a greeting card) with the Native American quote on the outside and the brief biography of the author on the inside. Make sure to have one card for each participant.

Activity 1D  Large white sheets on stand or taped to the wall for documenting brainstorming activity.  Large dark colored markers

Activity 4B  Prepare “Active Efforts” and “Reasonable Efforts” signs (found in the Trainer’s Supplemental Materials) for this interactive activity.  Post signs labeled “Active Efforts” and “Reasonable Efforts” on opposite sides of the wall with sufficient room for the participants to walk between the signs.
