Requirements: Migrate Lotus Notes server archives to .pst file format
Current Lotus Notes Environment: End User archives are stored on a centralized Domino server
CMT Universal process for migrating local Lotus Notes Server-Based Mail Archives: This section applies only if your Lotus Notes users have server-based personal archives that are accessible to you, either via a Domino server or a shared network drive, and you want to migrate the archive data centrally, without requiring that the end-user migrate their own archive data using the CMT End User migration tool.
Since there is no standard policy for server-based archives, this process requires you to first modify an Agent in the CMT Add-On Tools database, to properly set the archive fields for each user in the database based on the naming and archive methodology used in your organization. The agent is called “Set Archive DB” and will need to be modified by a Domino developer. The fields that need to be set are ArchiveServer and ArchiveDB. If the archive is on a shared network drive (not a Domino server), then you must set the ArchiveServer field to “ ” (blank). Once the formula for the fields are customized to your environment you will need to select the user records you want to update and then run “Set Archive DB” from the Actions Menu.
After the ArchiveServer and ArchiveDB fields are updated for the users, you need to run a verification step to ensure that the specified archive database is accessible to the migration process.
1. Select each user by single-clicking in the column to the left of their name. Checkmarks will appear as you select each user. 2. Click on the Verify Actions action menu and select Verify Archive DB For Selected Users. The process completes without any dialog or prompt boxes.
The process will occur without any dialog or confirmation boxes appearing.
A to the right of the ‘Archive DB’ column indicates that the specified file exists and can be opened by the Lotus Notes ID used on the migration workstation. A indicates that there was an error opening the specified file. Probable causes are the file does not exist or there was insufficient ACL access. After the archive databases have been verified, an entry needs to be created in the CMT Universal executable file so that CMT Universal can migrate the data. This is accomplished by performing the following steps: 1. Close CMT Universal if it is running. 2. Open the CMT Add-On Tools database in Lotus Notes. 3. Select a group of users.
4. Click on the action button. 5. Launch CMT Universal.
Access the Migrate tab and click . 6. Select the users document that says User’s Name Archive and click on the Migrate User button
