As we get together and plan the remainder of 2017, let us continue to refocus as individuals and as a group to rededicate ourselves to our tenants of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Let’s make 2017 the best year ever for our Council.

The Chaplain’s message has again been provided below. A special “thank you” to Fr. Mick for again taking time out of his busy schedule to provide us with this message. Let us take the time to read and reflect upon the words he’s has graciously provided us. Father doesn’t think that many of us read his message, therefore he will quiz the membership at our April Business Meeting on this month’s message content. The winner of the quiz will be exempt from his weekly church donation, while the many losers will be requested to double their donations !!!!!! ………………………………………………APRIL FOOLS…………………But read the message anyway !

Dear Brothers,.

The power event of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is upon us. The Church throughout the world echoes the angel’s message to the women: “Do not be afraid! O know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised… Come; see the place where he lay”.The resurrection of Christ is the culmination of the Gospel Message, it is the Good News: Jesus, who was crucified, is risen! This event is the basis of our faith and our hope. Thus the message which Christians bring to the world is this: Jesus, Love incarnate, died on the cross for our sins, but God the Father raised Him and made him the Lord of life and death. In Jesus love has triumphed over hatred, mercy over sinfulness, goodness over evil, truth over falsehood, life over death. That is why we tell everyone: “Come and see!” In every human situation, marked by frailty, sin and death, the Good News is no mere matter of words, but a testimony to conditional and faithful love; it is about leaving ourselves behind and encountering others, being close to those crushed by life’s troubles, sharing with the needy, standing at the side of the sick, elderly and the outcast…”Come and see!” Love is more powerful, love gives life, love makes hope blossom in the wilderness.

Let us pray

With joyful certainty in our hearts, today we turn to you, risen Lord!

Through the grace of your resurrection, help us to seek and find you in our daily lives.

Help us to realize that we have a Father and are not orphans.

Help us to know and share with others that we can love and adore you even in the midst of our daily struggles.

Through the love you showed your Apostles and Disciples, allow us to express our love of you in the way we reach out to the vulnerable: the hungry, the unemployed, the homeless, the physically challenged, the abused and forgotten.

Enable us to care for our brothers and sisters who are suffering from so many diseases.

We ask you, Lord Jesus, to put an end to all war and every conflict, whether great or small, ancient or recent.

By your resurrection, we ask you to enlighten and inspire the initiatives that promote peace throughout the world.

On this day, may we all come together as one to proclaim, as brothers and sisters, that Christ is risen!

Lord, we pray to you for all the peoples of the earth: You who have conquered death, grant us your life; grant us your peace! We ask all this in the glory of your resurrection.

Amen

Happy and glorious Easter my brothers.

Fr. Mick

Rain or shine the Knights continue their dedicated and unwavering support to the Little Egg Harbor Food Pantry. The Pantry Boys continue to exemplify our main tenant of charity. On Saturday April 8th, the Knights were out in full force distributing Easter hams to needy area families. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Matty Bieda dressed up like the Easter Bunny for this event.

DAZE AND KNIGHTS:

Great to see Joe Berdini up and about at the Lenten Penance Service. Speaking of which, boy didn’t Jay Werling hold up the confessional line. He must have been bad boy this past year. Joe Giugliano looking svelte after losing 35 pounds to date on his special lettuce, coffee and skim milk diet ! Art Midgley down for the count with a bad case of the flu moaning the fact he’s missing precious days out on the links. Ever optimistic Pat Madison spotted around town wearing his Phillies cap. Billy McKeon climbing the “stairway to heaven” one light at a time as he continues to work on the Church property to remedy outside lighting issues. Mega congratulations to Don and Carol Fine who are said to have recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary !!! Geez…….did you guys get married in grade school ? Is there a calmer person anywhere than Ed DeVita? His blood pressure has to be just about perfect! Tommy Twomley says he’s working harder now in retirement at the food bank than he ever did at his “real” job! Urban Legend - Leo Rossetti going to start to transition out of putting in so many hours at the food pantry. Will never happen. You would think oral surgery to remedy a botched root canal from years ago would quiet Brother Pete Marcellino just a little bit. Nope…………

KNIGHT SPOTLIGHT

God, Church, Family, Country, Community. SK Jay Werling seems to have covered all the bases. Jay was born in Pittsburgh in 1962 as a less than 2 pound “preemie” baby (along with his better looking twin sister). A deal between his parents had Jay and his brother raised as Catholics by his dad, while his 3 sisters were raised as Presbyterians by their mom according to each parents religion. After a normal childhood, and being spoiled by the success of his Steelers, Jay “floundered” (his word) for awhile after high school. The lightbulb finally went off and he pursued his dream of joining the US Air Force. After basic training at Lackland AF Base in San Antonio, Texas, and additional technical training, Jay was stationed at Maguire AF Base in New Jersey. He spent his entire career, 28 years of active duty and NJ National Guard in NJ, the majority of time at Maguire, Atlantic City and Warren Grove Bombing Range. His primary duties consisted of traffic management and logistics. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He transitioned from the AF to work as a civilian for the FAA at The AC International Airport, where he works to this day as a Supply Technician responsible for nine aircraft. Jay moved to Little Egg Harbor in 1987. He has been a Knight for almost 10 years and has served as Deputy Grand Knight, Financial Secretary and Treasurer and has attained the honor of being a 4th Degree Knight. He is a visible fixture at St.Theresa’s Church and Parish, serving at one time or other as a “not so good” member of the choir, Eucharistic Minister, Reader and Sacristan. His wife of seventeen years Kim and son Andrew keep it “all in the family” as Altar Servers. Jay also helps with putting up the Church Christmas decorations and helps maintain the Prayer Garden. Other than drinking an occasional beer, his hobbies include watching his Steelers; family activities (including caring for his family’s 2 horses) and serving his church and community.

His future plans are simple. He wants to keep serving his God and his Church. Keep up the good work Jay, and thanks for your service!

KNIGHT SPOTLIGHT NEXT MONTH WILL FEATURE JOE LUTZ. DON’T MISS IT!

VIVAT JESUS!!!!
