It is time to go over the School Improvement Plan again, but we need to have our 2nd Quarter data first. We will need to meet again before the February meeting to discuss data. With your teams, look at the students who are RED…would need targeted help, and/or in danger of failing. How are you helping these students as a teacher and as a team? Do the same for the yellows, greens, and blues. How can we utilize specialists, PRTs, tutors to help these children? What is your team doing that might not be on the SIP?

Be prepared to meet on Monday, January 27th to discuss this information. If you cannot attend due to tutoring, etc, please have someone take your place and that person must be prepared to share your team’s information.

All LTMs and meetings with Colleen Fitzgerald are cancelled for today January 15th.

Trish has sent out a Read to Achieve video from Dr. Emory. This is mainly for 3rd grade teachers, but has pertinent information for all staff. Basically, this is a group of assessments to develop a portfolio for our 3rd graders to help them pass the Gateway for the 3rd grade EOG in reading. If students do not pass the EOG with proficiency, they will either be retained, be required to attend Summer School, or show proficiency with this portfolio of assessments. The 3rd graders will be taking 3 tests each week until April to develop the portfolios. This is a NC LAW that all students must be proficient in reading at the end of 3rd grade.

One Concern was emailed in. The concern was that some classes are arriving to lunch before their designated time, and continue on through the line ahead of the class who should be there. Then the class that should be in the line is now behind a class that shouldn’t be there, thus making the correct class not have enough time to go through the line, eat and exit at their correct time. Please be courteous of the lunch schedule and do not arrive before your designated time.

Another concern was mentioned during the meeting about the amount of water standing on the 2nd-5th playground. Ardel said he had already contacted maintenance about it.

The new Core II class will start on 1/22 in Trailer 6. Candy York will be the substitute teacher unless one is hired before that date.

Rachel Hicks mentioned the website www.adaptedmind.com It will give a math pre-test to students, and then adjust lessons and activities based on their needs. It is free for teachers, but you must set up your own class. It will give students an ID and password. Jennifer Mickey said she was happy to let the students work on this in the computer lab.

Reminder to K- 3rd teachers to make sure their iPads are in a secure location. One went missing this week but was found and returned. We can’t turn on the “Find my iPad” feature because the iPads are assigned to multiple users.

Please remember to acknowledge your co-workers with the GoldFish Awards at our staff meetings.

Remember to be ready to discuss data on Monday January 27th at 3pm.

Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be Wednesday February 12th.
