WHAT IS INTERGROUP?

The Lincoln Intergroup is a committee comprised of officers, committee members, interested A.A. members and one representative from each AA group in the four Lincoln districts who meet together once a month with the common goal of carrying the AA message to the alcoholic who still suffers. It functions as a partnership among all the groups in the Lincoln community. Intergroup performs services common to all groups by focusing resources in the most efficient way to avoid a duplication of services. Intergroup has its own treasury that is financed solely by AA group contributions and is used to fund the service committees to help the still suffering alcoholics. The AA groups are the authority of Intergroup and its service committees. Meets: Last Friday of each month @ 6:30 pm @ St. James United Meth; 2400 S. 11th Street; Lincoln, NE

WHO CAN HELP? YOU! ANY AA MEMBER IS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. Become an Intergroup Representative for your Group Attend the committee meeting of your choice or join us for the Intergroup meeting to listen to the committee reports to get an overview!

A.A. MEMBER

To serve on a committee of your choice, simply attend when they meet and ask how you can be of service. There is no set term to serve on a committee. You simply participate at any level you can. Your help would be most welcome! Any A.A. Member can attend the Intergroup Meeting and although only Officers, Intergroup Reps, and Committee Chairs have a vote your input would be most welcome there also. Each committee also has a chairperson which is a 2 year service commitment. Elections will be open in October for voting in November of odd numbered years for the following even & odd numbered years.

INTERGROUP REPRESENTATIVE

An Intergroup Representative is the vital local connection between the four Lincoln districts and the individual groups. Without this position filled, your group has no connection to the service work that is being done in the committees and the committees have no way to get information to your group about such things as the need for speakers in prisons, professionals who are trying to get in touch with A.A. members about Alcoholics Anonymous, reports to the groups about how money is spent at Intergroup to name just a few. An Intergroup Representative attends their own group business meeting to report on information collected at Intergroup and attends the once a month Intergroup Meeting to bring news to the four districts about your group. It is similar to the link of a General Service Representative for your group except there are less responsibilities and instead of linking your group to worldwide A.A., it links your group to local A.A. events and the needs of alcoholics across the whole community of Lincoln.
