Abstract While decreased vision may be the final common pathway for many medical conditions the individual Low Vision treatment options are not always the same for different causes of Low Vision. Causes for reduced vision from congenital to age related disease and trauma will be reviewed. Current treatment options and how each condition impacts visual rehabilitation, treatment and prognosis will be discussed for all age groups.

Objectives Understand the major causes for reduced vision and the medical or surgical treatments available.

Improve understanding of different treatment options for Low Vision patients based on the cause of their visual disability.

Be able to describe the differences between Pediatric and Adult causes of Low Vision.

Bio Dr. Lewis, a Board Certified Ophthalmologist, specializes in the treatment of people with severely reduced vision as well as providing general medical Ophthalmology. He obtained his undergraduate and Optometry degrees from Indiana University and received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA and has served 24 years in the US Navy. As a Low Vision specialist, Dr. Lewis works with people who have partial sight, maximizing their remaining vision and enhancing their ability to perform daily activities. His dual training as an Optometrist and Ophthalmologist allows him to provide a unique level of specialty care to those with visual limitations. Dr. Lewis is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
