Locksmith I

QUALIFICATIONS 1 High school diploma or equivalent or special diploma required. . 2 Six months experience in the locksmith trade, or . 3 A recognized locksmith certification from an accredited institution. . 4 Valid Florida Driver License. .

Job Goal

To complete assigned work in repair, replacement and securing of all locking mechanisms throughout the district.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Considerable knowledge and ability in the removal, overhaul, and replacement of damaged or jammed locks and locking mechanisms. Considerable knowledge and ability in the installation of new locks and locking mechanisms. Knowledge of minor carpentry work relative to the locksmith trade. Ability to process work-orders electronically. Knowledge of standard tools, methods, practices, and hazards of the trade.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Ability to change pins in door locks and dead bolts. 2. Ability to install panic devices of various kinds. 3. Make adjustments to locks, doors, closers, latch plates, panic devices, etc. 4. Ability to change combinations to safes. 5. Maintain key schedules for various locations. 6. Prepare and maintain records sing appropriate security and protection. 7. Perform other duties as assigned commensurate with the skills and abilities of the position. 8. Provide outstanding customer service and use positive interpersonal communications skills. 9. Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools’ Organizational Values. 1 Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations. 0.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS Heavy Work: Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
