Re: La Quinta High School Wind Symphony Donation Request

Dear Sponsor,

In 2015 the La Quinta High School Wind Symphony had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. The Wind Symphony’s performance was so impressive that it was the only high school group invited to return in April 2016 to participate in the Debut Series at the world famous Symphony Center in Chicago. Their rendition of “Moby Dick” was inspiring and resulted in an opportunity to perform at Disney Hall in June, 2017. The musicians of the 2016-2017 La Quinta High School Wind Symphony are now raising funds to perform at this prestigious event.

The La Quinta High School Wind Symphony is an auditioned group of 50+ students that are key to representing the performing arts program at La Quinta High School. This program provides advanced musical instruction to students and spends on average $25,000+ per semester on consultants to give students instruction to perfect their skills. As members of the symphony, students work diligently to improve their musical talents by practicing on campus during school, after school, and on weekends. They learn skills that are necessary for success in college and values that help shape their character, such as teamwork, dedication and discipline. The La Quinta High School Wind Symphony consistently places at top levels in competitions, including unanimous superior ratings at this year’s Southern California and local high school festivals. In addition, the Wind Symphony participates in local collegiate festivals.

This program serves a diverse population of high school students in the Coachella Valley with 51% boys and 49% girls, approximately 71% minority enrollment, and over 55% of the students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Acceptance to play at Disney Hall is a great honor, however, since many of the symphony members are from lower income families, it is impractical to believe that all out-of-pocket expenses for this opportunity can be paid for by the students. With your donation, we can help offset the costs of this trip for these talented and deserving kids, who without your help, will not be able to experience this remarkable event. Please help our kids make this life-changing event possible. Your generous contribution may be tax deductible. For your convenience, provided is our federal non-profit organization for education 501c(3) tax ID: 71-0954077.

Please feel free to contact me or the band director, Mr. Fleischmann, with any questions or to notify us of a donation. This is a well-deserved achievement which will elevate the students experience as musicians as well as enrich their lives. Our kids truly appreciate any way you can assist us in reaching our goal of performing at Disney Hall.

Sincerely,

Kathy Wilmovsky Michael Fleischmann Fundraising Committee Band Director, La Quinta High School Blackhawk Brigade [email protected] [email protected] (760)799-1534 (760) 772-4150 ext. 1301
