LIFT UP YOUR HEARTS IN LENT 2016

Lift up your Hearts is comprised of six sessions in Lent, each of which includes prayers, Scripture, a reflection and questions plus a work of art, included as a key feature of each session. Please consider joining a small group this Lent. Each session stands alone, so there is no problem in just coming to a session or two.

The Theme of session 3 is Confronted by God’s Mercy. A personal encounter with Jesus, the face of God’s mercy, is transformative. Justified, that is redeemed by the power of the Cross, we are offered salvation. From the waters of baptism we emerge, like St Paul, a new person. Graced by Christ through the Spirit, we are empowered on our journey.

Thank you so much for supporting CAFOD Lent Fast Day

Together, our parish raised £550 for CAFOD’s work. With UK Aid Match funding, this means we have ensure £1100. Can be used to bring water to the villages of even more of the world’s poorest families, meaning children don’t have to walk hours every day to collect it. Now they are free to get an education and pursue their dreams. Thank you for your generous compassion for those living in poverty and for fasting in solidarity with them. ______

I BELIEVE IN .…THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS 148 Q Can Mary really help us?

A. Yes. Since the beginning of the Church, experience has taught that Mary helps. Millions of Christians testify to it. Being the Mother of Jesus, Mary is also our Mother. Good mothers always stand up for their children. Certainly this Mother does. While still on earth she interceded with Jesus for others; for example, she protected a bride and groom in Cana from embarrassment. In the Upper Room on Pentecost she prayed in the midst of the disciples. Because her love for us never ceases, we can be sure that she will plead for us in the two most important moments of our life: “now and at the hour of our death”..
