Algebra 1 Syllabus Mrs. Marnin (951) 738-2100/Ext. 1301 [email protected] Course Content: Algebra 1 is a one-year course designed to fully train you in the skills of Algebra and fundamental problem solving. This course is the foundation of all other math courses. Algebra 1a We will cover the following Units. Algebra 1b I. Number Sense IV. Polynomials II. Linear Equations V. Quadratics III. Graphing & VI. Rational Functions Expressions Required materials: VII. Radicals  Algebra I Text (Text can be seen online at Classzone.com--activation number is 2491893-30)  Practice Workbook (PW)  Notebook o Pencils for all Turned in Assignments o Dry Erase Markers.

Tardiness & Cheating  ERHS’s policy will be followed for tardiness. If you are not in your seat working when the bell rings, you will be considered tardy and disciplinary action will follow.  Academic dishonesty of any kind will not be tolerated. A zero will be given and a detention issued.

3 Classroom Rules: 1 - Absolutely NO ipod or cell phone use in class!! 2 - Respect Others- Do not talk when the teacher is talking and if others are presenting. 3 - Have a Positive Attitude

Consequences: 1st time: Verbal reminder. 2nd time: After school detention and /or parent contact. 3rd time: Referral/Saturday School and/or Parent conference at school.

Grading Policy: When a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to Grading Policy Percent find out what he/she has missed. If you need extra help, make Test 45% an appointment, I will be glad to help you before or after school Quiz 20% in my classroom. Assignments 35% Re-tests: If you “fail” a chapter test, you have the opportunity to be re-tested on the chapter material, if you have at least 80% of your assignments turned in. Re-tests are not given during class time.

Each assignment will be posted on the student calendar, on the board in class, and on the class website: www.erhsmath.com Bathroom Passes/Extra credit: You will receive 4 restroom passes for the semester. If you don’t use all your passes, they will be worth 5 extra credit points each at the end of the semester. You will not be given any more if you lose them.
