Activate/Build Prior Knowledge: Anticipation Guide (True/False) 1. Amphibians are animals that begin life on land. 2. Toads have bumpy dry skin. 3. Frogs can quickly change their colors to blend with their surroundings. 4. You can tell if a frog is a boy or a girl by its ear drum. 5. Metamorphosis is when a frog is born.

Comprehension Strategy: Reading using the text format: illustrations, captions, labels, size relationships shown; Compare and contrast toads and frogs.

During Reading Using appropriate Guided reading strategies, students will be reading at their own pace and the teacher will be listening to students read, monitoring, giving feedback, taking anecdotal notes and running records. The students will be using text structure and features to gain information about frogs as amphibians.

Attend to Comprehension Within, Beyond, & About the text: After Reading

Students complete their own venn diagram. Draw a time line with illustrations showing metamorphosis of the frog.
