Water Treatment Plant Operator

The Town of Altavista is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Water Treatment Plant Operator. This position is performed under immediate supervision operating and maintaining a water treatment plant and other pumping and monitoring sites. Full-time position, requiring holiday, weekend and shift work, as required. Applicants must possess a VA driver’s license, a CDL is desired, a high school diploma or equivalent, possess basic math skills and general mechanical knowledge, ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders. Applicants must be knowledgeable of and practice safe work habits, and have a strong desire to learn and practice the water treatment process. A Virginia Water Treatment Operator’s License is desired; trainees will be considered. The Town of Altavista is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Utility Mechanic. This position is performed under immediate supervision maintaining a wastewater treatment plant, water treatment plant and other pumping and monitoring sites. Full-time position, requiring holiday, weekend and shift work, as required. Applicants must possess VA driver’s license, a CDL is desired, a high school diploma or equivalent, possess the ability to perform semi-skilled diagnosis and mechanical repair of parts, equipment and systems to maintain equipment, return existing treatment units to service and to replace complex treatment units, support systems, and ancillary equipment for the Town of Altavista’s WWTP and WTP, ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
