Position Purpose: Ensure the provision of a high level of nursing assessment, planning and management of patients with continence issues within a timely and appropriate manner.  Assess, treat and manage patients according to appropriate nursing and research based continence practices.  Ensure a high level of application and maintenance of clinical standards in area of responsibility  Assist with Urodynamic studies when required  Demonstrate independent expert clinical reasoning and clinical competencies in the area of practice, including expertise in use of relevant assessment tools and treatment methods  Have an expert knowledge of continence products/aids including the prescription of them  Have a high level of communication skills both verbally and written  Facilitate effective workload management by appropriately triaging/prioritising patients as required, developing productive work practices/systems and by providing input to the service manager regarding workload issues.  Manage caseloads & waitlists, as appropriate, in such a way as to facilitate timely access and ongoing therapy for patients  Deliver a service that is customer focused and sensitive to diverse needs.  Participate and lead when appropriate a coordinated team approach to patient care  Develop and assist with the ongoing development and review of the Service’s policies and procedures  Provide clinical facilitation for Nursing, Physiotherapy and Medical students as required

Qualifications: Essential Selection Criteria:

Essential  Current Division One nursing registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency  Post graduate qualifications in Continence (or working towards)  Experience in Continence assessment and management of patients  Excellent written and verbal communication skills  Strong leadership skills, including proven interpersonal skills in the facilitation of effective team functioning, conflict identification and constructive resolution when relevant  Demonstrated creative and proactive approach to the management of change  Knowledge of and participation in continuous quality improvement processes  Commitment to clinical research as appropriate  Commitment to continuing professional development  Demonstrated understanding of manual handling risk reduction  Computer literacy  Current Victorian Driver’s License
