NATIONAL TRAILS DAY – SATURDAY 6/2/12

WHAT: 20th Annual Trails Day “America’s Largest TRAILgating Party” WHEN: Saturday June 2nd, 2012 9:00 a.m. WHERE: Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park - Gate A, 1275 Miller Landing Rd., Tallahassee.

DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of North Meridian Road and Miller Landing Road, go 0.9 miles west on Miller Landing Rd. and enter Gate A of Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, on the left, at 1275 Miller Landing Rd.

EVENTS:

FTA volunteers will lead a 2.5-mile trail hike at 9:00 a.m. For further information and to reserve a spot on the hike, contact Karen Berkley at 850-570-5740.

Capital City Cyclists will lead an all-ability 6-mile bike ride on double-track and a 1-hour intermediate bike ride on single-track, both rides beginning at 9:00 a.m. Bring your own bike/helmet. A limited number of bikes/helmets are available if you don't have your own--reserve one with Chuck Goodheart (850) 933-6631.

The Northwest Florida Water Management District will be giving free wagon tours of the Park at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Tyler Macmillan of the NWFWMD will narrate the tour, talking about the Park and explaining the benefits of prescribed burns. There are 25 seats available on each tour. Seating will be first come, first served.

NOTES:

Refreshments will be available, provided by Tallahassee Friends of Our Parks Foundation.

Trail and environmental groups will have information displays set up.

FOR ALL EVENTS, dress for hot weather and bring sunscreen, bug spray, AND PLENTY OF DRINKING WATER !!

Dogs allowed ONLY on trail hike and MUST be people- and other-dog-friendly and ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES please.
