Spiro FFA Wins State FFA Electricity Career Development Event By Stanley Gaffrey, Media Intern
STILLWATER, Okla. — Members of the Spiro FFA Chapter won first-place honors in the State FFA
Electricity Career Development Event during the 2017 Oklahoma FFA Career Development Events at
Oklahoma State University April 29.
Team members are Blake Hammontree, Aunika Anderson, Meagan Garris and Seth Rinke.
Hammontree received high-individual honors in the competition, while Anderson, Garris and Rinke placed fourth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
The electricity career development event requires members to complete a written exam, execute hands-on performance skills and demonstrate knowledge of electricity competencies.
The Spiro agricultural education instructors and FFA advisers are Acie Conrad, Sherman Cox and
Dustin McLemore.
The OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources hosted the contest. Public
Service Company of Oklahoma sponsored the electricity career development event and will provide a
$1,000 scholarship to the high individual.
FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education division in the Oklahoma Department of
Career and Technology Education system. With more than 27,000 members and 357 chapters, the
