Tryout Information

Who: 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders When: August 17th, 2016 3:15 – 4:15

Pick up will be in the front carpool lane.

Where: Cafeteria

What: Math Team Tryouts

All participants will take a math test during tryouts. The top

20 from each grade will be selected for the team.

Details about the testing will not be shared with students or parents. We do not encourage studying for the tryouts.

This competition math team will meet Wednesdays after school from 3:15-4:30.

We will participate in a variety of math competitions and learn non-traditional problem solving strategies.

Team members are expected to complete the weekly math problems at home and be prepared at meetings to review the answers. The cost to join the math team is $225 and covers all competition entrance fees, materials, and t-shirts.

My child: ______who is in (teacher’s name) ______homeroom, has my permission to try out for the Mathematics Fanatics Team. My child will be staying after school and will be picked up in front of the school at 4:15.

I understand that the team will be selected based on the results of the tryouts. The top 20 team members will be notified by invitation to join. Tryout results will be kept confidential.

I also understand that there is a fee of $225 to join the math team. This fee covers contest enrollment, materials, and t-shirts. I understand that the team will meet on Wednesdays after school from 3:15-4:30 and occasionally on other days.
