They proceeded to chase him down the 27 street, and were able to apprehend him and hold him until the 28 police arrived; and 29 30 Whereas, these three wonderful “Good Samaritans” prevented 31 more harm coming to the victim as well as further damage to her 32 property; and 33 34 Whereas, this act of unselfishness is the highest tradition of 35 neighbors coming to the aid of other neighbors regardless of the 36 circumstances in times of trouble; and 37 38 Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this 39 resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank these three 40 South Carolinians for this truly heroic and unselfish act; and 41

1 [4977] 1 1 Whereas, their efforts resulted in the conviction of the burglar and 2 he received a sentence he deserved, ninety years in prison with 3 eligibility for parole after service of twenty-nine years. Now, 4 therefore, 5 6 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 7 concurring: 8 9 That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend 10 Andy Oswald, John Hamilton, and Mark Patterson of Aiken for 11 their assistance without regard to their personal safety in 12 apprehending a burglar who had robbed and assaulted their 13 neighbor. 14 15 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 16 Andy Oswald, John Hamilton, and Mark Patterson. 17 ----XX----
