Bannockburn Elementary School BES Parent Teacher Association

PTA Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year!

On behalf of the Bannockburn Parent Teacher Association, we would like to welcome (or welcome you back) to Bannockburn Elementary School. We hope you had a happy and healthy summer vacation.

Why You Should Join the PTA:

The BES PTA is able to sponsor, organize and fund many events, activities and efforts because we have a wonderfully supportive community. Approximately 85% of our families join the PTA annually. We are lucky to have this support and we work hard to deliver quality programs for our students, families and teachers.

For a more detailed look at what the PTA does at BES, please see the flyer in this packet titled “5 Reasons To Join Our PTA”- we hope it will make you smile (and join!). A PTA membership form is included in this summer mailing. You can bring the form to the August 26 Sneak-a-Peek or join online at www.pay4schoolstuff.com. Membership is renewed annually. Only PTA members get the school calendar and school directory (published later in the fall).

PTA Back to School Events:

PTA Newcomer’s Coffee: Friday, September 2, 9:45am, BES All Purpose Room (cafeteria). This is a great opportunity to meet other new families at Bannockburn as well as Principal Kate Bradley and your PTA Board.

First PTA Meeting: Tuesday, August 30th, 7:00pm, BES All Purpose Room (the second day of school!). Our PTA meetings are the first Tuesday of every other month. Childcare provided at minimal cost.

PTA Back to School Picnic: Friday, September 16, 6:00pm, BES Playground. There will be food, drinks, a DJ and lots of fun. Bring a picnic or purchase food on-site.

Sign Up Now for Bannocknet:

Bannocknet is a Yahoo-based listserv for Bannockburn families and staff. The PTA uses bannocknet to communicate important information about PTA and BES events, including before and after school clubs.

To join, you must send an email to [email protected] and include the names and grades of your children. We will take care of the rest!

Emails from MCPS or Mrs. Bradley’s Sunday night emails are NOT bannocknet. We encourage you to join the PTA listserv and stay connected. It’s free!

Volunteer for a PTA event or committee:

It takes a village to make BES a thriving community and every person’s help counts. Included in this mailing is a listing of some of the volunteer opportunities available at BES. You may bring this flyer to the August 26 Sneak-a-Peek or return it to the BES main office. Don’t forget to write your name on it!

There are many volunteer opportunities for all kinds of schedules and interests. We need you!

If you have questions, please contact us. We’re looking forward to a great year.
