SESSION ONE 10-11:30AM

July 9th Farms Are Full of Life

Appreciate all the places and spaces of life on a farm with a hayride and fun farm tour. Meet farmers, horses and chickens. See the fields, orchard, woods, barns and greenhouse. Pick yummy blueberries. Make ice cream the old fashioned way.

July 16th Back to the basics

Learn about the basics: sun, soil and water. Let’s have a party for the sun that feeds our beautiful crops and trees and that powers our new solar panels! A party for the worms and the good soil that they make and for the rain and streams! We’ll see the solar panel array and learn how it works, visit the compost pile to meet the worms and get a shower from a rain bird to cool off. We’ll make a beautiful sunflower to take home.

July 23rd Veggies Are Beautiful

Take a tour of our growing fields and see where food comes from! Enjoy the story, Grandma Lena’s Big Ol’ Turnip. Create artful faces out of veggies and then eat them! Make a rainbow veggie mobile to take home.

SESSION TWO 10-11:30AM

July 30th Nature on the farm

Snipes Farm is home to wild flowers, deer, fox, rabbits, countless birds and 150 year old trees. Let’s take a nature walk to find amazing tiny and tall things, growing and blooming things and find where the animals live. We’ll make a bird feeder from recycled materials.

August 6th The Chicken and the Egg

We have eight different varieties of chickens each with their own lovely plumage and personality. They also lay spectacular eggs which you’ll see. Let’s do some clucking and a chicken dance when we meet them! We’ll do an egg relay and make a mosaic out of egg shells. The visit will be complete with an egg salad snack.

August 13th Taking Care of the Earth

It takes a lot of work to tend the earth and grow food. We’ll see the whole array of tools, from a trowel to a tractor and do some digging of our own.
