Lesson Planning

Introduction Practicing colours (Group work): Give each group ten different coloured sheets and the name cards for it. Let them match the names with the colours.

Games: 1) Put a coloured sheet on the floor and ask the children to find an object that is of the same colour. Which group can get it first on the sheet at the front? 2) Hold up one of the colours and ask the students to point to something on themselves e.g. brown shoes, white T-shirt etc.

Listening: Ask the students: Who is wearing blue trousers? – all who are wearing blue trousers stand up etc.

Song Sing the song ‘Sally is wearing a red dress’ Activities: 1) Ask the children to stand in a circle. Throw a soft ball to a child and ask him / her: What are you wearing? – The child says e.g. green socks Everyone sings the song replacing ‘Sally’ with the name of the child and what he / she is wearing e.g. Lara is wearing green socks. Then that child throws the ball to someone else.

2) Put five coloured sheet in a circle inside the children’s circle. Go round singing: ‘Sally is wearing hmm, hmm, hmm …….. all day long’. Then stop. Those children who stand in front of a coloured paper have to say something that Sally is wearing e.g. a blue sweater. Repeat with the other five coloured sheets.
