YOUTH BASKETBALL RULES 2nd Grade Boys 1) LEAGUE: Boys in 2nd grade 2) THE BALL: All will use a junior size ball. 3) BASKET: 2nd grade boys will use a 9-foot basket. 4) TIME REGULATION: 2nd grade boys’ games will consist of two (2) 20-minute halves. The game will be stopped for substitutions at the five (5), ten (10) and fifteen (15) minute mark of each half. 5) TIME OUTS: Each team is allowed two (2) time outs per half. They may not be carried over. 6) DEFENSE: -Man-to-Man defense only. Switching is allowed. -There is no stealing off the dribble or when a player is holding the ball. -Teams may only steal off a pass or loose ball. -NO PRESS: Defensive players should begin guarding their players once they cross midcourt.

7) OFFENSE: -NO FAST BREAK: The defense must be allowed time to cross mid-court. The following violations will not be called. -Backcourt -3 seconds in the lane -5 seconds with the ball closely guarded

8) FREE THROWS: Teams will not shoot free throws. A shooting foul will result in a made basket. 9) PLAYER PARTICIPATION: (Coaches Responsibility)

a) Each Coach must assign a player a number for the substitution system. (Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, will start your first game of the season). b) On each substitution the next five players on the rotation should be put into the game. c) If there is an injury or a player does not show for the game, the coach must skip the missing player’s number and substitute the next player in the rotation. d) The rotation will carry over to the next game. (So if you ended last weeks game with player number 2 players number 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, should start the next game. 10) COACHES: Only one coach will be allowed to be on the floor while play is in session and should remain out of the way.
