Linda Colburn Has Worked in Education for 17 Years. She Currently Is a Project Manager

Justin T. Cooper has worked in education for 16 years. He currently is an Assistant Professor of Learning and Behavioral Disorders in the Department of Special Education at Eastern Kentucky University. He received his Ed.D. in special education from the University of Kentucky. In addition to his work in higher education, he has been a classroom teacher in Utah, Wyoming, and Florida, working primarily with elementary and middle school students who have learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. His interests include evidence- based instructional interventions to improve the reading ability of persons with learning disabilities, metacognitive strategy instruction, and the effects of academic instruction and applied behavior analysis on decreasing inappropriate behaviors in the classroom.

Linda Colburn has worked in education for 17 years. She currently is a Project Manager for the Higher Education Collaborative Online Community at the Vaughn Gross Center for Reading and Language Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to assuming this position, she was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Technology and Education at Vanderbilt University. She received her Ph.D. in instructional technology from Vanderbilt University. In addition to her work in higher education, she has taught first grade in both public and independent schools as well as working to facilitate technology use for students and teachers at an independent school. Her interests include the analysis of the impact of educational technology in learning environments, alternative forms of assessment and implications for research and practice, issues related to the topic of early reading difficulty, and teacher change and school reform.

Alan Siegel, has worked in education for 25+ years. He currently is the ExecutiveDirector of the Child Development Centers of the Bluegrass. Prior to that he was a behavioral consultant for the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative and Big East Special Education Cooperative. He received his M.S.Ed. in special education from the University of Ky. He has been a classroom teacher for children and young adults with moderate to severe mental disabilities. In addition, he has worked as a Coordinator for Special Education Programs overseeing the district programming for students with other health impairments, visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries, and emotional and behavioral disorders. He served as Project Coordinator for a federally funded project aimed at assisting students with mild disabilities with transition. He is a certified trainer for such programs as The Peaceful Intervention Program, CHAMPs, and Foundations. Joy Zabala has worked in education for 30+ years. She currently is an independent practitioner who provides assistive technology and leadership support nationally and internationally. She received her Ed.D. in special education from the University of Kentucky. She was a general educator for more than 10 years before entering special education. She is the developer of the SETT Framework, a collaborative problem-identification and solution-seeking model for students, parents, and multi-disciplinary professionals (http://www.joyzabala.com) and a founding member of the QIAT Consortium, a grassroots national group, which developed the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology Services. She is the current president of the Technology and Media (TAM) Division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and represents TAM on the Executive Board of the European Schools Project.
