Project Purpose – Problem Being Addressed: This project addresses the problem of bacteria entering the Marina in the Marina del Rey through urban runoff in storm drains that flows untreated to the ocean. This contaminated water affects marine life and beach water quality, posing a threat to public health.

4. Project Goals a. Short-term Goals: The goal is to improve the overall water quality in the Marina del Rey by preventing trash and other pollutants from entering the Marina through the storm drain system. b. Long-term Goals: The goal is to improve the overall water quality in the Santa Monica Bay by preventing trash and other pollutants from entering the bay through the storm drain system. This project will help restore and protect the Marina and its resources by reducing the amount of untreated urban runoff that currently flows into the Marina while protecting the health of beachgoers and the coastal environment. 5.
