Minutes
The meeting was opened by the Chair at 8:05 a.m. Board members present were Elwood Ellis, Joann C. Austin, Neil Farrington, and Irene L. Belanger. Others present was Paul MacDonald and the Town Clerk. Those present were led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag by Paul MacDonald.
On a motion by Selectperson Joann C. Austin and a second by Selectperson Neil L. Farrington, the Board voted 4-0 to accept Warrant #43 for $16,898.65 and Warrant #44 for $298,017.54 as presented.
Manager’s Report: Public Comment: There was not any public comment at this time. Town Business Meeting: The Town Business Meeting is March 29, 2008 at the China Middle School at 9:00 a.m. Social begins at 8:30 a.m. Town Reports Available: Some of the Town Reports should be available today or tomorrow with the rest to be delivered by the end of the week.
Unfinished Business: Public Comment: There was not any public comment at this time. Recycling Coordinator: Neil L. Farrington’s appointment paper was signed by the Board.
New Business: Public Comment: There was not any public comment at this time. Quitclaim deeds: On a motion by Selectperson Joann C. Austin and a second by Selectperson Neil L. Farrington, the Board voted 4-0 to process four quitclaims. Quitclaim deeds were signed for China Neck Farm, Inc., Michael S. & Marie G. Cilley, Michael S. Cilley, and Stephen J. & Beth Plummer.
Other items were included during the meeting. Paul Mac Donald discussed the fuel tank article (#40) that is on the Town Business Meeting Warrant. Mr. Mac Donald would like to be able to amend the article to reflect an increase $7661.00 for a split tank to hold both gas and diesel. Mr. Mac Donald recently learned that a portion of fire trucks use gasoline. The split tank would hold 1500 gallons of diesel and 500 gallons of gas. Irene Belanger suggested for the additional cost the Town should purchase a separate tank for gas. Mr. Mac Donald said he would get that information for the Town Meeting. Select Board member Joann Austin noted that the Central Maine Regional Communications Center had contacted Libby Mitchell about receiving permission to sue the towns using services without paying for them. The Town Clerk reminded everyone that the second half of taxes will be due on March 28, 2008 and that the town office will be closed on March 29, 2008 for the Town Business Meeting. Chairman Ellis inquired about filling the positions on the Board of Assessment Review.
On a motion by Selectperson Joann C. Austin and a second by Neil Farrington, the Board voted 4-0 to adjourn at 8:25 a.m.
