What you and your child need to know about GPAC’s Summer Theatre Production: This is a Musical Theatre Production. Having your child participate in this theatre workshop has little to do with “creating a star”. The objective of this workshop is for your child to participate in the creation of a Musical Theatre Production. It is about the process and not their role in the show. Your child will audition, rehearse and present a musical theatre production - with opportunities to develop life skills, make new friends and have fun. On the first day of camp, students will participate in a real audition process. Your student needs to be prepared to smile and enjoy the audition process, show good behavior and trust the Director’s Choices. Some students will have more experience than others and that is OK. No experience is required to participate, that is part of the learning experience. This process will provide your student with that experience. The announcement of the cast will take place after lunch on the first day of camp. It can be a difficult time, since the role your child receives may not be the role they wanted. If your child is upset about the casting decision, please remind them of the following: The Director is casting an ensemble, not just one or two “lead” roles. Everyone’s contribution is important and valued. It is about learning and enjoying the process and not about getting a leading role in the show. Remember: “There are no small parts, only small actors!”

PLEASE READ YOUR COPY OF “FAMILY MATTERS” WITH YOUR CHILD – it is a great learning tool. This informational brochure will be given to you on the first day of the session.
