Singing sensation Elise at Filipino Day at Wonderland
Culture Philippines of Ontario (CPO) is proud to present the 7th annual Filipino Day at Canada’s Wonderland on September 1, 2007. This year’s celebration will feature a Canadian-Filipino artist from Vancouver, Elise Estrada, whose hit song ‘Insatiable’ is taking the Canadian charts by storm. She was crowned Miss Vancouver Princess 2004 and was the Canadian Grand Contender of internationally aired TV series Pinoy Pop Superstar. Elise has captured the hearts of Asian communities around the world and is looking to continue to strengthen her Filipino presence. A manager from RockStar Music Corp. will accompany Elise and will be watching the Battle of Champions event. This could be a good opportunity for the singing idols to be noticed. The afternoon will be filled with singing excitements during the Battle of Champions event. Winning sounds will be heard from champions like Jessa Luna, CPO 2007 winner, Charlyn Marundan, FCT 2007 winner, and Theodore Marasigan, FCT 2005 winner. The junior category will include the high-energy voices of Jasmine Ragual, CPO 2007 winner, Vincent Villanueva, FCT 2007 winner, Kristine Cristobal, APO 2007 winner, Cassandra Malabanan, CPO 2006 winner, and Mikaela Reyes. An evening of entertainment will follow that will again include some soulful numbers from the winners of Battle of the Champions, high-energy dance numbers from RMX and YFC-NYE. The well-loved singer, Josie de Leon, will also grace and entertain the audience. The cultural presentation will be performed by the Culture Philippines dance troupe who is returning from a very enjoyable and successful performance at the Mondial des Culture in Drummondville, Quebec. CPO has continually grown and perfected the art of Filipino cultural dances. They have incorporated new and more challenging dances such as the Paunjalay and Sayaw sa Bangko. CPO is very proud to come up with authentic dances that come with authentic Filipino costumes to capture the true essence of the dances. The troupe is led by the passionate and experienced former Bayanihan Dance Director, Eno Kalash. The quality and prestige of their dances has earned them multiple appearances at Walt Disney World, Florida, Mondial des Cultures, and had received many international invitations. Filipino Day has always drawn large crowds. CPO is happy to provide this opportunity for our kababayans to celebrate their culture at Canada’s most exciting theme park, and to promote the local talents of the youth in our community. Let us come with our family and friends. Join us celebrate the Filipino Day at Canada’s Wonderland. For more information, please visit CPO website at http://www.culturephilippines.ca/.
