Congratulations to Mr. Michaelson and Mr. Fahy! Mr. Michaelson will be inducted into the Close-Up Hall of Fame this spring in Washington, D.C. He is only the fourth teacher to receive this honor. Mr. Fahy has been selected as a member of the National Student Leadership Advisory committee. This committee will meet in Washington, D.C. at the end of a January. Congratulations!

Black Hills State College, Spearfish and the ND Air National Guard will have reps in the west lobby today over the noon hour.

Mr. Kralicek: All participants and those interested in participating in the 3-2-1 competition will meet in Mr. Kralicek’s room (615) over lunch on Tuesday, November 28. Lunch will be provided. Seniors: Jostens will be here on November 21 to take cap & gown orders in the east lobby from 9:30-2:15.

Mrs. Haider: There will be a short TSA meeting on Tuesday, November 21 in Room 700B at Noon. You may bring your lunch. Mrs. Johnson: Healthcare Explorers will meet on the following Wednesday afternoons from 1:45-3:20pm for activities in the departments listed below at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson. Healthcare Explorers is available for all area high school students and is affiliated with Boy Scouts. Applications are available at the hospital information desk, DHS Room 311- Mrs. Johnson or by email from me. The cost is $28 payable to Post 9052 and requires a parent signature for students under age 18. See the full list in room 311. Any questions visit with Mrs. Johnson. Juniors: The ASVAB test will be held on the mornings of Tuesday, Dec 5th and Wednesday, Dec. 6th. The test is for all Juniors. The class will be divided into 2 groups , the breakdown is listed below. . **Students with last names Abner thru Lawson will test on Tuesday morning **Students with last names of Lopez thru Zubke will test on Wednesday morning. All testing will be done in the auditorium. Students should report directly to the auditorium that morning and not to their 1st block class. Testing will take all morning. Counselor’s Corner Visit www.dhs.dickinson.k12.nd.us and click on Counselors Corner for information on the MANY scholarship opportunities, and information on testing we have throughout the year. We have other great information listed here as well.

Upcoming 2018-2019 Juniors and Seniors – University of Notre Dame offers all-expense paid summer opportunities to introduce students to the college experience of academic seminars, residence hall living and study abroad. See any counselor to apply. Seniors- The Bank of North Dakota is sponsoring an online Financial Aid Information Night (FAIN) every Wednesday beginning October 4, 2017 and the last Wednesday FAIN online information night will be November 15, 2017. Register online at https://bnd.nd.gov/counselors/ under Financial Aid Information Night (FAIN). Also, link into Financial Literacy for more information on money management topics below FAIN. FAFSA applications can be submitted beginning October 1, 2017. VIDEOS is also available with 2-3 minute videos with an overview of the financial aid process. Interested students grades 9-12, are encouraged to join Dickinson Dollars for Scholars. The meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month, at 4 PM, at Dickinson Chamber of Commerce, 314 3rd Avenue West, Dickinson (across from Berg Elementary in log building). If students are interested in joining Dickinson Dollars, see a DHS Counselor ND CTE $6,000 scholarship – The WorkKeys assessments (Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents ) for a required test score for the ND CTE scholarship is being offered at Dickinson State University, DSU Testing Center once a month on Saturdays for October and November. The upcoming test dates will be on Sat., October 21, 2017 and on November 18, 2017. The test fee for the three assessments will be $40.00, or $15.00 per test. The DSU Testing Center has limited seating. Please see a counselor to schedule the assessment, or call Flora Cho at 483-2964. DSU would prefer students schedule one month prior to their test date. Upcoming 2018-2019 Juniors/Seniors – Visit with any counselor for a nomination if interested. Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) – Juniors – participate in a six-week free college-level opportunity for bright and motivated juniors at such institutions as Cornell University and the University of Michigan. Applications are due in January for TASP. Telluride Association Sophomore Seminar (TASS) – Sophomores – participate in a diverse six-week summer program to shape a dynamic African American learning community. Seminars are offered in critical Black and ethnic studies in partnership with Cornell University, Indiana University and the University of Michigan. Nominations are due by November 27 for TASS
