We were delighted to welcome Sabrina to tell us about her 12 day National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) experience in January. WOW, what an inspiration she was.

But before she started, Anthony put on a display of his technological wizardry when turning on the data projector.

NYSF showcases career opportunities in science, techology, engineeering and mathematics. Sabrina told us she was in a chemistry group and this group had laboratory and site visits, but more imporant was the chance to network and be exposed to aspects of life on campus. Oh yes…also lots of socialising we understand.

Sabrina’s favourite things were visiting a laboratory at ANU and using the microscopes in the Pathology laboratories. She also learned about aspects of chemistry including histology and cytology. Sabrina worked on determining the amount of Vitamin C in orange juice, making slime and she also had the unique experience of making and eating liquid nitrogen ice-cream.

Sabrina left NYSF feeling energised about all the opportunities possible for her to work in the many areas of science. She would like to do medicine and now has fresh options to consider. She is working hard in her y12 to gain university entrance.

In summary, Sabrina told us that she had gained a much confidence and learned a lot during the Forum as well as making a lot of friends she believes she will meet in her future career.

Judging by her talk this morning, we know Sabrina will excel at whatever career she chooses.

This year you don’t have to pay to attend, just for excursions and any food you want to pre-order. Here’s the link to find out more and register. http://e.mybookingmanager.com/D9640Conference2016 Accommodation Destination Tweed (the Tourist Information organisation covering the Tweed Valley) says there is still accommodation available but it was being filled fast. All enquiries should be directed to Tracy at www.destinationtweed.com.au and phone 1800 118295.
