“Safety and Health through Integrated Facilitated Teams” (SHIFT) POSITION: SITE COACH / LIAISON

SUMMARY Provide training and coaching to Safety Committee leaders and members in hospital study sites as they implement a participatory, "Total Worker Health" program. The Site Coach will teach the Health and Safety Committee (“Design Team”) how to use the CPH-NEW Intervention Design and Analysis (IDEAS) tool for participatory design of integrated safety/well-being interventions. The site coach will also assist with a variety of data collection/evaluation activities.

BACKGROUND Since 2014, CPH-NEW has been disseminating the Healthy Workplace Participatory Program (HWPP) Toolkit to guide workplace implementation of Total Worker Health programs. Prior field tests established the HWPP toolkit as feasible and worthwhile for engaging non-managerial staff in problem identification and solution building to key workplace barriers to health and safety. The “SHIFT” intervention research study will formally test the effectiveness of the IDEAS tool for increasing safety committee outcomes (e.g., injury reduction) and improving climate and organizational learning. This study is being supported by MassCOSH (Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety & Health), a 40- year old workers’ safety and health rights nonprofit advocacy organization.
