DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE OPPORTUNITIES Opportunities Main Office, Conference Room. September 13, 2016 11: 00 to 12:00

MINUTES

Present: Kathy Nicholl, (Dan Hilliard, Bill Gardner and Sibil Johnson-Williams via scan call) Staff: Diana Phillips, Lauren McAndrews

Kathy Nicholl called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. The minutes of previous meeting were approved to be posted for board meeting.

A. Reports:

1. Opportunities Fundraising

Burnet Fundraising Committee: Kathy Nicholl reported that the committee met on September 9, 2016. The committee has decided upon a three-pronged approach to raise funds: The personal ask, the hosting of house parties and the Style show. These are all along with the annual campaign. In regards to the style show, Ms. Nicholl reported that the location has been secured along with the MC. Foods and shops are still in the process of being confirmed for a finalized list, however many shops have confirmed. The next meeting for the committee is October 3, 2016 from 11-Noon at Trailblazers in Burnet and the Style Show meeting will directly follow from Noon to 1 pm.

Williamson County Fundraising: Dan Hilliard reported that there is nothing recent to report. With summer now past, the plan reported by Mr. Hilliard is to send an overall email to each Williamson County board member (Kathy Nicholl will be ccd on that email) and then Mr. Hilliard will send an individual email to each member. Mr. Hilliard reported the concept was that the list was to be comprised of businesses and organizations and individual gifts. Lauren McAndrews reported that the reservation for the Williamson County Clay Shoot was changed and the deposit has been agreed to hold the date of August 11, 2017 for a clay shoot at Reunion Ranch in Georgetown.

Number Campaign: Lauren McAndrews presented to the committee three proposals for a numbers campaign. After explanation and discussion it was agreed to proceed with a 7 for 7 Campaign for unrestricted funds. This campaign will be further developed by Lauren McAndrews and a draft will be sent to the committee by September 23rd for review.

End of Year Campaign: Lauren McAndrews reported that the end of the year campaign is scheduled to go out the week before Thanksgiving. This campaign is directed for Opportunities Meals on Wheels. It will be in the style of a Christmas card again this year.

2. Festivals & Celebrations: Lauren McAndrews reported that the events compilation covering across the two counties/cities for Opportunities to have representation at either in form or a booth and/or float is still in process.

3. Grants: Development dashboard was presented.

4. Fundraising Software: Lauren McAndrews reported progress on the Fund 50 Software continues and that the position was once again vacant who did the entries and a new temp would fill the position this week.

Employee Chili Cook Off: Lauren McAndrews reported that the date for the 3rd annual Employee Chili Cook Off is October 15, 2016 at the BACA Center. Several local judges and dignitaries have agreed to be judges at the event. A Save the Date Card will be prepared for each board member to be given at the next board meeting.

B. New Business

1. Taylor Senior Center: Diana Phillips explained the situation regarding the Taylor Senior Center. The current building has new owners and the rent will be significant. Ms. Phillips discussed the need to raise money to cover this expense and is working with the new owner regarding specifics.

2. Deliverables/Deadlines: Lauren McAndrews discussed with the committee a tracking system for staff re due dates that was developed by another committee. Development will be included in this report as well as continued usage of the Development Dashboard.
