Minutes of the Friends of Lapham Peak Snowmaking Committee

MINUTES OF THE FRIENDS OF LAPHAM PEAK SNOWMAKING COMMITTEE January 24, 2017 Delafield Library Members present: Anne Riendl, Charlie Ritter, Rick Bjodstrup, Kris Maki

Items discussed: Christmas Cards: Anne gave the box of returned cards and unused ones to Rick in order to update the addresses, etc.

DVD’s and Businesses: We are still looking for the DVD’s that used to run in Evergreen on the TV....Businesses need to put their logos on the TV on a video and on our website to support snowmaking. Later, Karl T. did make a DVD and it is running now in Evergreen as per Anne. Joe Stuber wants to meet with Charlie and contact businesses for support for snowmaking.

Meeting with Paul Decker: Paul, Chairman of the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors, has connected with Cindy Duchow and Chris Kapenga re: snowmaking. He had good news for us about our cause. More later...

Trail Update; Drains were put in the trail on the East end of the filed to prevent water from overrunning the trail. The recent rains have made grooming and maintaining the integrity of the trail system really difficult, but the drains helped and we have survived a serious stretch of warm weather and rain. Hats off to the rangers and volunteers for helping to keep our manmade system available. All Wednesday Night Ski Events and the Loppet have been held.

Guns Rick B checked and found hour meters on them; therefore, we could see how long each one is being used and how much it costs for repairs. We have not received the demo gun yet...and rangers have requested more of the newer , more efficient guns.

Electrician info: Al Binkelman, an electrician who helped wiring the lights for Lapham Peak in 1989-90 is retiring and wants to work on the circuitry of our snowmaking system. That way we can identify where the wires are? Where do they go? Which wires are live? And What’s on what circuit?

Survey monkey Kris is waiting for Charlie to send her the updated survey so she can send it out to all donors. We have not received a plethora of replies form donors on survey monkey.

Mar 4 Slush Rush races Brett needs to let us know if Jason Frisk has okayed the Fat bike race on manmade snow on mar 4th. He told Kris he would see Jason soon....also Tom Klein is supporting a ski Jourer...would like to let him showcase the event on that day...1 dog and 1 ski jourer. Tom also mentioned a snowshoe vendor who might have demos for the event.

Ski Poles Andrew Ohlesson, a Wed. night skier and Loppet skier, will be selling high end carbon poles made in Michigan. He wanted to offer reduced prices on Loppet skiers for the month of Feb . and set up a “raffle” for a set of skiis....Kris informed him that we cannot have a raffle,(no WI license) but a Silent Auction or other type of live auction might work to raise money for snowmaking.

Candlelight ski Jan 28th Vouchers are required for admittance to the candlelight ski this year.

Records We are looking for records of days of skiable snow from the DNR Paul Sandgren Birkie marker: The Paul marker is 3 K’s from the Finish toward Hayward about 200 yards to Duffy road. We are looking for a picture to distribute to donors and Friends. Linda Stuber sent the wording of the plaque.

Respectfully submitted, Kris Maki Next meeting Feb 14th and 28th.
