Job Description For Youth Program Coordinator

The Youth Program Coordinator shall:

1. Oversee the planning, programming and recruitment for Youth Programs at Foothills United Church. This will include both a Junior/Senior High group and a Young Adult group.

2. Work Sunday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, conducting or supporting the youth program.

3. Plan and participate in at least two activities per month, from September to May. This might include special activities such as a retreat, community service project, or just a fun event.

4. Encourage and facilitate joint activities with Presbytery, other United Church Youth Groups, as well as with other denominational youth groups in the Bowmont Community.

5. Publicize the activities of the Youth Group, working in conjunction with the Church Secretary (bulletin announcement and church booking), and with the Newsletter Editor. Prepare a report for the Church Annual Report in January.

6. Maintain appropriate records of youth activities, attendance and expenses.

7. Enhance the visibility of youth in the life and work of Foothills United Church by encouraging participation in all aspects of church life (ie ushering, greeting, reading, garage sales, special events, planning intergenerational worship etc).

8. Encourage members of the Youth Groups to develop and enhance their leadership skills, and to learn about the various committees within the church structure.

9. Prepare a budget for the program and submit to Christian Development (CD) Committee for approval by the end of November. To supplement the youth program budget, the coordinator may choose to plan fundraising activities, with the approval of the CD Committee.

10. Consult with CD Committee once a month, and present written summary of activities completed. Attend a CD Committee meeting as required or requested.

11. Consult with Minister of the Pastoral Charge as required.

12. Meet with Ministry and Personnel Committee in the spring for performance review, and possible contract renewal..
