-Leah Barton from Cobb County was elected as the national youth vice president of Exploring (Congratulations!) She wants to make contact with all of the area posts to get to know the Explorers in the region; the goal is to have Georgia posts better represented at nationals. Email her at: [email protected]

-The national youth board is trying to break the country up by regions so that the national youth board can communicate more effectively with posts all over the nation.

-Snively sent in the financial update: GPSTC cost $11,879.00

Current balance: $8,910.00

-Attendance at state conference: 205, 141 Explorers, 64 Advisors

-Scholarship update: gave out one $1000.00 scholarship to an Explorer from Alpharetta

-Expecting to give out additional scholarships at state conference in 2017; the application is still on the LEEAG website.

-Talked about giving a scholarship to national youth board members. State Conference 2017:

-GPSTC is already at maximum capacity for 2017

-In order to alleviate the rooming issue at GPSTC we have thought about moving check in back to Friday once classes at the academy have checked out and stay later on Sunday night. This would make the conference last only Friday and Saturday night. Furman is still waiting on feedback from GPSTC on this option.

-Furman called several other states to determine how they handle their state conferences; Colorado was the only state that was close in size to ours.

-The State Conference is for the kids; so we want to keep the state conference as the great event that it has been in the past!

National Advisor Conference:

-We were talking about LEEAG hosting a regional event for advisors; this year we had three agencies that wanted to participate in our state event. They were turned down.

-Hosting a southeast conference would allow us to allow posts from across the country to compete together- the logistics don’t seem like they would work.

-However; we could host a regional advisor’s conference which would allow regional advisors get to know one another better.

-LEEAG is looking at hosting a two day national conference in the spring for law enforcement exploring advisors. Cost would be around $50-$100/advisor. In Atlanta.

Youth Board:

-For GPSTC: they want to design t-shirts for the youth board.

-They will be gathering prices for the cost of the shirts.

-They want to do Explorer vs. Advisor dodgeball game and donut eating competition, flag football.

-They created a LEEAG snapchat: LEEAG2017

-They would like competitions like bike EVOC, officer Survival, K9, Drug ID, rappelling, tactical med. Class.

-They enjoyed the “laid back” atmosphere of the conference last year. -Could do a “best snap” snapchat contest at the closing ceremonies.

-They also have a hashtag: #LEEAG2017- this could compile all of the pictures into a single string.

**Next LEEAG meeting @ Winterfest Feb. 10th (hopefully before opening ceremonies)**
