 “Königin des Sommers (Queen of summer)” of Katharina Rankovic, Eismanufaktur Kolibri from Wolfurt/Austria and “Limone Stravagante” of Davide Arnoldo, Eiscafé Cortina from Saarburg have been selected to participate in the German Finals of Gelato World Tour, being held in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin this upcoming July 7-9, 2017.

 “Persische Versuchung (Persian temptation)” of Annegard Pesaro, Anelu Eishandwerk from Konstanz and “Sikarni” of Henrike Weihs, Lieblingseis from Biberach has earned a special mention.

Neu-Ulm, March 31, 2017 – Gelato World Tour’s trip around the world saw 22 gelato chefs compete on March 31 at the site of wholesaler Pfersich, exclusive dealer of Carpigiani of Swabia.

The flavors “Königin des Sommers (Queen of summer)” of Katharina Rankovic, Eismanufaktur Kolibri from Wolfurt/Austria and “Limone Stravagante” of Davide Arnoldo, Eiscafé Cortina from Saarburg will compete amongst the other winners from around Germany at the German Finals, scheduled for July 7-9, 2017 in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin. Flavor, structure and presentation are the three parameters that are judged, highlighting the choice of ingredients, the art of gelato making, and the visual impact of the gelato. The Top three winners from the Berlin Finals will go on to the World Finals in Rimini, Italy this upcoming September 8-10, 2017.

The jury was composed of Stefano Bortolot (Vice-President Uniteis), Gerhard Schenk (President of German Association of pastry chefs), Marcus Golling (journalist, editor of Neu-Ulm’s newspaper) and Dario Fontanella (Gelato artisan in Mannheim).

The Gelato World Tour, which is supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of Economic Development, as well as the Regione Emilia Romagna, is the first international traveling competition in search of the best flavors in the world. Gelato World Tour has visited eleven Gelato Capitals – Rome, Valencia, Melbourne, Dubai, Austin, Berlin, Rimini, Singapore, Tokyo, Chicago and Shenzhen. The Tour is directed by Carpigiani Gelato University, the world’s most renowned school for successful gelato entrepreneurs, and Sigep – Italian Exhibition Group, the world’s premier artisan-gelato trade show. In order to further fulfill Gelato World Tour’s mission to spread the culture of gelato throughout the world, in Germany were organized 2 Challenges – in Bavaria and Swabia!
