LOCAL CONTRACT

Statement of Understanding Between: Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen 2014 (formerly Miss Point Mallard’s Outstanding Teen) and the Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Organization (formerly Miss Point Mallard’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Organization)

Relationship: The Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Organization is a nonprofit entity whose express purposes include: 1. The representation of Decatur in the annual Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. 3. The representation of the sponsors of the Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Organization. 4. The promotion of the Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. As a result, there are several important premises that are basic to Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen year of service. Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen must recognize that for her year of service she will represent Decatur and the Spirit of America Festival, and the Miss Spirit of America’s Scholarship Organization and its sponsors. It is important that she maintain immaculate grooming whether on campus, going shopping, or making any and all public appearances.

Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen will: To ensure efficient management of Miss Spirit of America’s OT and her appearances ~ Refer all appearance requests to the Director ~ Refer all press, radio, or television requests to the Director ~ Honor and fulfill all scheduled appearances for Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen ~ Prepare herself to successfully meet the requirements of approved appearances ~ Prepare herself in conjunction with the Miss Spirit of America’s OT Director, Assistant Director and Board of Directors to adequately and successfully compete in the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant

The Miss Spirit of America’s Scholarship Organization will: ~ Confirm all appearances and requirements pertaining thereto ~ Notify Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen of each contracted appearance in a timely manner ~ Screen all appearance requests and protect against undesirable appearances ~ Provide time for study, rest and vacations in regard to the interest of Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen’s good health and mental well being ~Assist in the preparation for the role of Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen and her participation in the state competition ~ Pay her entry fee for state competition ~ Provide a cash scholarship

In addition, Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen will be asked to appear at the following events during her year of service. The last four on the list are required. ~ Racking Horse World Celebration (Priceville; late September 2014) ~ Decatur Christmas Parade (December 2014) ~ Arc Chocolate Festival (February 2015) ~ Decatur Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast (February 2015) ~ Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Contestant Orientation ~Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant (March 2015) ~ Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant (2015) ~ Miss Spirit of America Pageant (2015)

Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen will: ~ Never have any type of coaching or outside help, advice, or influences in preparing for the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant without the written approval from the Director and Assistant Director ~ Understand that the Miss Spirit of America’s OT Director and Assistant Director will be part of the decision-making process in preparing Miss Spirit of America’s OT for the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen pageant. While input from her parents/family is both expected and appreciated, the pageant director has the final word on any and all matters. ~Provide her own wardrobe for appearances and all phases of competition in the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant ~ Select – with input from the director - and pay for her own wardrobe for the state competition. The Director must approve all competition and production clothing. ~ Select – with input from the director - her talent to be performed at the state competition, The Director must approve her talent selection. ~ MUST use a minimum of one of the photographs provided by the pageant Photography Sponsor in the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Program Book ~ Provide her own transportation to and from scheduled appearances, unless the director has made other arrangements ~ BE PROMPT. There is never an excuse for being late to any engagement. ~ Write Thank-You notes to all pageant sponsors and prize donors within 30 days of being crowned Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen 2014 ~ Allow the director and assistant director to “Friend” her on all her social network sites and immediately remove any photographs and/or posts that are deemed inappropriate and/or unbecoming.

Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen 2014 Contestants will: ~ Pay a $100 entry fee to the Miss Point Mallard Pageant in a good faith effort to secure my spot as a contestant. Entry deadline is Monday, June 16, 2014. I understand that if I am unable to compete or decide to withdraw from competition, I must notify the director by noon June 17, 2014. If I fail to do so by this date and time, my $100 entry fee will not be returned, regardless of circumstance or reason.

I, ______, a Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen Contestant, have read the agreement and understand all conditions, rules, and regulations set forth by the Miss Spirit of America’s OT Scholarship Organization, and if selected Miss Spirit of America’s Outstanding Teen 2014, will be able to follow and fulfill all the rules and regulations set forth in the Miss Spirit of America’s OT Local Contract. I understand that if found in violation of any part of this contract, the director has the authority to revoke my title and I must relinquish my crown to my successor, who will compete in the Miss Alabama’s OT Pageant as Miss Spirit of America’s OT 2014.
