How to Organise a Fund-Raising Event

Organise a Fund-raising Event for CCF!

Your support will go a long way in helping us raise $3.5 million to support children with cancer and their families.

Below is a simple guide to help you in your planning process:

Step 1: Key considerations:

 Event name – having an appropriate event name will help you in the marketing of the event.

 Event date - set a date for your event so that you can work out the implementation time frame.

 Event venue – book early to secure the venue.

 Fund-raising process – decide on the fund-raising mechanism, example through sale of tickets, pledges, sale of merchandise, etc. Then, determine the sale price, mode of collection, etc. Broadly, there are two types of events:

a. Private events – these will be promoted to families, friends, colleagues, business associates and people known to you. There will be no display of posters in public areas or advertisements in the media. Publicity is via email, face-book or other online portal. No police permit is necessary.

b. Public events – besides people known to you, the event will be promoted to members of the public via posters and advertisement or street sales. A house-to-house street collection police permit is necessary. An audited account must be submitted to the licencing authority within 60 days of close of event. The organiser must also adhere to the 30/70 rule (i.e. fund-raising costs must not exceed 30% of total funds raised).

 Target Amount – set a target amount to work towards achieving the goal.

 Amount to be donated – decide on the amount to be donated. Is it 100% of the gross proceeds or net proceeds?  Beneficiaries – specify whether CCF is the only beneficiary. If there is more than one beneficiary, what is the percentage share for each beneficiary?

 Donation Date – set a timeline where the beneficiary/ beneficiaries would receive the donation.

Step 2:

CCF would like to know more about you:

1. Description of company/organisation/group – Kindly provide a brief description of your organization.

2. Background of organizing the FR event – please let us know what triggered this FR effort on your part.

3. CCF staff’s assistance - Do you require CCF staff to be on site to help with the event?

Step 3:

Please download the following documents.

1. Proposal form – for both private and public events 2. Memorandum of Agreement – only for public events
