Technology Lesson Plan Lesson Synonyms Subject Grade Level(s) ELAR 2nd Summary Teachers and students will brainstorm synonyms. Teacher will model the uses of Wordle and introduce them to a web-based dictionary (if desired). Students will identify and use common words that have a similar meaning. They will use context to determine the relevant meaning of words. Students can save their work on the public gallery tab. They need to make sure that they name the file in a way that you know it’s them. They can leave the author as anonymous.

Prior to the lesson, students are expected to know the functionality of a dictionary and will practice looking up words. Overview (Activity) During the lesson, students will practice looking up words and their synonyms in a dictionary or thesaurus. Once students have a good understanding of this concept, students will create foldables in workstations. To extend the lesson, incorporate a web-based dictionary, to teach a 21st Century Literacy. Dictionary.com is very easy for students to use. Dictionary.com can also be used on an App on an IPad. Students will use Wordle.net to show their understanding of Synonyms.

Technology Options Teachers can use any presentation tool (Power Point, Google Presentation, Keynote) either a PC , Mac, or Tablet instead of Wordle.net.
