NCMA Pentagon Chapter Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) Study Group Schedule

January 13 – March 16, 2016 / Wednesdays – 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM WHS/AD (Suite 200) at Crystal Gateway 2 (1225 S. Clark St, Arlington, VA 22202) Metro Accessible via Crystal City (see page 3)

NOTE: THE CFCM EXAM WILL CHANGE APRIL 1, 2016 TO INCLUDE FAR CHANGES THROUGH FEDERAL ACQUISITION CIRCULAR (FAC) 2005-83, WHICH BECAME EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2015.

This CFCM study group is geared towards those who want to take the CURRENT VERSION of the exam by March 31, 2016, focusing only on the CFCM Study Guide, 2nd Edition (through FAC 2005-57), preparing you for the current exam before it changes. The Pentagon Chapter will proctor the current version of the exam MARCH 30, 2016.

Participants must attend class January 13 th . Everyone will be expected to submit three (3) original multiple choice questions related to each week’s reading assignment. Q&A will be submitted weekly to the designated Group Leader ( [email protected] ) by 5PM on the Monday before class. These Q&As will be compiled for a weekly ungraded practice exam taken at each class. Volunteers are needed to be Group Leader weekly to review questions and lead discussion. There could be dual group leaders in order to share the role. Group leader duties will alternate each week to a different study group participant. Complete reading assignments prior to class time the week they are scheduled. It’s recommended to take the practice exam in the back of the CFCM Study Guide prior to the first class to gauge your current knowledge. Recommend writing answers on a separate sheet of paper, not in the book. Bring a copy of your test results to the first meeting. Please make note of any areas in the practice exam you’d like to talk about for group discussion at the first meeting. Adjustments to the schedule below may occur as necessary to accommodate for unexpected changes.

Jan 13 Orientation – Prior to this class, take the Study Guide practice exam. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND. Arrive early. (Group Leader – Keisha Simmons, CFCM)

Jan 20 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 1, pages 1 – 16, review FAR Parts 1*, 2*, 3, 4, & 5 as referenced in the Study Guide, and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

Jan 27 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 1, pages 16 – 38, review FAR Parts 6, 7, 8, 9 16, 17, & 18 as referenced in the Study Guide and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class. Application review & assistance.

Feb 03 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 2 & 3, pages 39 – 54, review FAR Parts 10, 11, and 12* 13*, 14, and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

Feb 10 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 4, pages 55 – 63, review FAR Part 15*, and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

1 Feb 17 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 5, pages 65 – 81, review FAR Parts 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, & 27 and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

Feb 24 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 5, pages 81 – 93, review FAR Parts 28, 29, 30, 31, 32*, 33, & 34*, and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

Mar 02 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 5, pages 93 – 103, review FAR Parts 35, 36, 37*, 38, 39, & 42 and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

Mar 09 Prior to class, read CFCM Study Guide Section 6, pages 103 – 110, review FAR Parts 43*, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, and prepare 2 original multiple choice questions related to the FAR sections for this class.

Mar 16 Retake the practice exam as a group. Last meeting can be used to review study material, test tips, and answer questions related to getting ready to certify.

Study Group Registration Fee : The registration fee for the study group is $79 for NCMA members and $109 for non-members and study materials are not included in the registration fee. The chapter will prepare you to take the exam and will also proctor the exam in April 2016.

Location and Building Access : WHS/AD is located in the Crystal Gateway 2 building at 1225 South Clark Street in the Crystal City area of Arlington, VA. You can drive and park in any of the number of parking facilities or street/meter parking located in Crystal City and then walk to Crystal Gateway 2. Some parking garages are free after 4 p.m. and most meter parking is free after 6 p.m. So there may be a small cost associated with parking depending on where you park. Please be wary of parking and plan accordingly with time.

This facility is also metro accessible via the Crystal City metro stop (yellow/blue lines). You can then follow the route through the Crystal City Underground (15 minute walk) or exit to the street level (10 minute walk).

Underground Directions from the Metro: Upon exiting the metro gates, you can take the first set of escalators to the Crystal City Shops entrance to access the underground passages. At the top of the first set of escalators, turn right and enter the glass doors. Walk to the end (Rite Aid is in front of you) and turn left. Make an immediate right after passing Auntie Annie’s Pretzels. Walk to the end and turn left. Follow the corridor till you arrive at the next junction. Turn left at the ATM machine and Gateway Sundries store. Follow the hallway around to the right. The entrance to the building is located after the H&R Block store and before you get to the SoHo Café & Market.

Street Directions from the Metro: Upon exiting the metro gates, you can take the escalators all the way up to the street level and turn right upon exiting the escalator. You should see bus stops to the left. Cross the street (Crystal Square) and turn left to walk under the tunnel for the busses heading North. Take the two cross walks that take you across 15th Street S. and turn left. Follow the path to the right that takes you to 14th Street S. and use the crosswalk to cross the street. Turn left and follow the sidewalk down 14th Street S., which becomes S. Clark Street. After you pass the playground at Sparkle’s Childcare on your right, turn right into this set of buildings. Crystal Gateway 2 is the center building in this grouping, which you can access via the entrance in front of the Crystal Gateway Sport & Health if the center doors do not open for you.

Access to the Conference Room: It is recommended and preferred that you arrive early to access the building. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor. A WHS/AD employee will be waiting in the 2nd floor elevator lobby beginning at 5:30 pm. That person will escort you to the conference room so you may sign in.

** Everyone is required to sign in on the building access sign-in sheet in order to attend this class**

3 The building and elevator are access-controlled after 6:00pm. A POC will be available to escort those who arrive after 6:00 pm that need to use the elevator. This POC will be available if you arrive after 6:00 pm so that they may let you into the building entrance and escort you in the elevator.
