About the Eyebright Awards

New Zealand’s Eyebright flower, Tūtūmako, is a hardy native which flourishes in a variety of terrain and conditions just like our diverse and hardworking Plunket teams.

That’s why our awards “The Eyebrights” recognise projects where people have worked as a team, overcoming obstacles to create something that benefits as many families as possible within their community.

The Eyebrights support Plunket’s collaborative approach of working together to benefit local communities.

They are team focused, and split into two team award categories:

Catagory 1: Working Together

This award is looking for a team able to demonstrate how they have co-ordinated and worked together across Plunket, utilising their individual skills to deliver exceptional results for Plunket, families or for their community and how this project demonstrates Plunkets Vision of the best start for every child. The project does not need to be delivering a ‘new’ service but could be improving an existing situation through team effort.

Catagory 2: Innovation

Awarded to a team that has developed an innovative solution, opportunity or way of working to deliver better service to families, the community or Plunket, if the project meets a previously uncovered need and if the project could have wider potential across either Plunket or the community to achieve Plunket’s vision of the best start for every child.

Rewarding community commitment

To recognise the commitment we know Plunket people have to the communities they work in, the winning teams will travel to Wellington where a special presentation will be held at Parliment in front of the Prime Minister.

The winning teams will each receive a grant of up to $1500 towards an approved project that benefits the children and families in their community. how to enter:

Teams can be made up of staff, volunteers, car seat schemes, family centres etc. Or a group made up from a collection of Plunket’s business units who have worked together to achieve an outstanding result.

It is up to teams to nominate themselves. Additionally each team must provide two advocates* who may be contacted to support the team’s nomination. Testimonies may be provided in writing and speak about the impact on the community that has occurred as a result of the team’s achievement.

Shortlist: Eyebright Judges will select a shortlist of finalist teams from each category.

Finalists: Advocates of finalist teams may be contacted by the Eyebright judges if more supporting information is required. The judges’ decision is final. Winning teams will be notified by 1st September and the awards will be publicly announced in September.

* Contact details of advocates must be provided and advocates must be prepared to be contacted. Team entry form Team entry form
