Agenda and Task List University Lutheran Church Profile Review Saturday, 13 September 2003

9:00 Coffee 9:15 Matins and Theological Reflection Pr. Joanne Engquist 10:00 Welcome (10 minutes) Graham Kelder  What the profile will be used for  How the profile was compiled  Purpose of today's retreat -- to compile the best possible picture of our congregation for use by future candidate(s)  Process for revisions at this meeting: suggest, discuss, formulate revision, vote

10:10 Discussion of Part IV Bryan Russell Note: we are beginning with the mission and ministry pieces first, even though it is counterintuitive to begin with the recommendations and not the background, because they are the most important and we want to give them the time they require. If necessary, we'll cut discussion of more "factual" questions that come earlier in the profile.  Q. 23 Brief review of mission statement(s) (5 minutes) Choose people from audience to read mission statements aloud? Do we agree with profile that these reflect the overall mission of UniLu?  Q. 25 What are excited about? Anything we missed? (10 minutes) (One idea -- have people write down what they are excited about, then read description. People can raise their hands if theirs is not there.)  Q. 24 Top 3 mission priorities that emerged from listening groups/questionnaires What do you think? (5 minutes)

10:30 Discussion of Part V (a) Mark Bautz  Q. 27 Break people into subgroups (count off) to review this response (10 minutes) (No easy way to divide this, so all groups review the same thing?)  Reporting back & discussion (10 minutes)

10:50 Discussion of Part V (b) Faith Bloomquist  Q. 27 Discuss position description (15 minutes)

11:05 Part V (c) : Dots Exercise Mark Bautz  Q 28 -- explain that first two columns were calculated from questionnaires -- explain that we want to use "dots" concept for the third column. Of the 31 ministry priorities suggested by the ELCA, we need to choose the top 4. Each person gets 5 dots to allocate as they choose.

 Break for dots, bathroom, etc. (15 minutes)

 .Announce results (could be done later if not immediately apparent)

11:25 Discussion of Part I Susan Worst Q.4 -- see timeline. Anything inaccurate, superfluous, missing? (10 minutes) Q.5 -- congregational conflict. Is this accurate? (10 minutes)

11:45 Discussion of Part IV Graham Kelder Let people choose their own small groups for discussion -- or count off. (If no one wants to do one, that's probably OK.) Options are:  Question 9: Worship, education, evangelism  Question 10: Service ministries  Question 13: Stewardship  Question 15 and 16: Involvement in Synod & larger church Discussion lasts 10 minutes. Reporting back & discussion (10 minutes) Wrap-up 12:15 Closing Devotions Pr. Joanne Engquist 12:25 Lunch 1:00 End What we need to bring: Copies of profile for everyone (Graham) Histograms of profile questions to hang next to pages for dots exercise (Bryan) Dot stickers (Susan)
