5:30 PM Public Meeting 1. CALL TO ORDER- 5:35 PM A. Flag Salute B. Introductions of Board Members and Guests- Karen Swift, Gregg Chastain, Megan Andersen, Norm Trost, Ginger Redlinger, Robyn Fry Others present- Kas Knoll, Becca Reel, Stephanie Moyer, Mike Tilden, Genelle Tilden, Lauren Smith, Shannon Givens 2. AGENDA REVISIONS- none 3. APPROVAL OF DECEMBER MINUTES- approved as distributed. 4. REPORTS A. DIRECTOR’S REPORT (Ginger Redlinger)- lots to celebrate. The main goal the Board originally set has been using all resources point of focus to achieving full K-12 IB accreditation. We’ve met this goal. We also received authorization for grades 11 and 12, which is 1.5 years ahead of schedule. End of year priorities: School Improvement Plan in place Have Board fully structured, evolving to meet the needs of a K12 school. Each board member will, in addition the their role on the board, will be in charge of one of the following categories: o School Improvement o School climate and culture o OTA board policy development 2 committees under the board treasurer: Finance committee (year round) Fundraising committee 2 large issues facing next year are the overall state budget, which we are expecting a shortfall of over two billion dollars; and ESSA (every student succeeds act) replaces No Child Left Behind.
Ginger turned in her letter of resignation. She’s going to leave at the end of the school year. B. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/MYP DP COORDINATOR (Kasshawna Knoll)- Valentine grams going on sale tomorrow, for rest of week. Overnight beach trip in May. Now that accreditation is done; shifting to college advising- partnership with MHCC…extended options- accelerated math student. College credit math. 3/16- FAFSA and college planning parent meeting
C. PYP COORDINATOR (Becca Reel) 3/3 OBOB- pool competitions in the morning, final round at 1:30. Regionals 3/18. 3/15-16 PYP spring conferences. Variety of times to choose from. 3/20- 6pm 5th grade parent night exhibition informational meeting May- outdoor school, 5th grade 6/6- schoolwide presentation of 5th grade exhibition. Have grades k-4 view and learn about it 6/8- evening presentation of exhibition State testing coming soon.
Self- study going very well. We’ll begin the analysis portion during E.R. tomorrow. The Board has been given the survey. Survey going out to parents in next month. We haven’t decided whether to survey or just interview middle school students. 4/1 Becca can start inputting info on computer. Deadline in June.
D. Treasurer Report See attached copy of budget. We find ourselves looking like we are in a deeper deficit than we actually are; one reason is because are waiting for next distribution of money from state. It will in come March and will be around 360k. Moving forward the goal will be to replenish reserves and to not have to draw from them. Budget committee meetings coming up. Gregg has asked for volunteers to join committee. Budget meetings and deadline have changed. E. TEACHER REPORT 5. CITIZEN’S AGENDA and GUEST SPEAKERS COMMITTEES: Strategic Planning- Communication- Finance- Facilities- Fundraising- Community- PTC- Currently the biggest focus is on the auction. McMenamin’s night March 7. We received ½ balance for Facebook fundraiser. Health & Wellness 6. CONSENT AGENDA-
7. ACTION ITEMS- A. Accepted Megan Andersen’s resignation. B. Stephanie Moyer and Mike Tilden have been moved forward to become board members. Approved as distributed.
8. INFORMATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS- Board retreat Saturday, March 4th, 10:00- 3:00. It’ll take place at Karen Swift’s house, 12061 SE Virginia Ct Sandy, OR. It will be a board training and orientation for new members. If interested in joining the board, please attend.
Next meeting, March 7th @ 5:30 pm. It will be held at McMenamins, 2126 SW Halsey Troutdale, OR 97060
