ITU Capital Projects Master Project List and Activities 09/21/2012 (Priority Action in Red) ( = New Information)

Campus Drive West Campus Connector Road Brad Glatfelter______ Precon meeting attended this week. Design/Build project.  Design “Charette”(planning input) meeting for bridge over Rt. 123 and throwing field south of Field House attended this week.  More segment design meetings in following weeks.  Scope includes construction of restrooms, maintenance building, tennis courts, pavilion and various athletic fields.  Plans on Facilities Docushare.  Site work likely to begin in the 4th quarter.

Conservation Studies Program Residence (Front Royal) Nancy Pickens Alt. Thursdays 10:30 . Smithsonian partnership – 128 bed Housing, Dining Hall and Academic Building.  NET has resolved major student wireless access issues.  Updated deficiencies list sent to GC.  Cable TV installed.

Fenwick Library Expansion Brian Snyder

. Occupancy August 2014. Project funding commitment in place.  Net Eng met with General Contractor, Civil Engineer and PM.  IT infrastructure design drawings issued for comment and pricing.  Net Eng developing scope of reconnection work this week to provide GC for pricing.  IT wiring design to be managed by AE

Fine Arts Renovation Hieu Tran Alt. Wednesdays 10:00 . Substantial completion is May 10, 2013. Construction schedules posted on Docushare.  Net Eng determined path for replacement Johnson Center loading dock security camera.  IT wiring likely in November.  Awaiting cabling submittals. Will conduct a pre-construction meeting prior to cable work starting.  Site requirements: check in with Mason Inspector and wearing hardhat, neon vest, glasses and boots.

Housing VIIIB Shenandoah Nancy Pickens . Construction start 01/13. 300 Freshman beds in Presidents Park area. Completion expected Summer 2014.  RFP respondent’s interviews two weeks ago.

PWC PPEA Life Sciences Building Micky Boeckl Alt. Wednesdays 10:00  January 2013 completion. 75,000 square feet, 3 stories, BSL II.  Second story pour underway.  60% drawings on Docushare, they are responsive to our comments, details should be reviewed  OSP conduit installed.

PWC PPEA Graduate Dorm - Beacon Hall Micky Boeckl Alt. Wednesdays 10:00 . Planned building turnover of October 19 with move in on October 20.  OSP and life safety line requirements questions resolved with contractors.  Look for switch install the week of October 8, if floor TRs are available  TR work is underway, racks being installed, OSP planned for this week.  Upper level student housing – 152 beds, 4 stories, above a floor of 10,000 GSF Mason space and 15,000 GSF retail space with 212 parking spaces.

Point of View Center Nancy Pickens______. Startup planned for September, completion in one year.  Network site provider connection proposal and costs needed.

ITU Project Engineering: A. Norcott/J. Callahan 5/3/18  County requirements for sewage treatment worked out.

Science and Tech II Addition/Renovation Alex Iszard Tuesdays 11:00 . Substantial completion 3-23-2013. Classroom use in fall 2013. S&T II is now Exploratory Hall. . From Facilities “Project Partners” meeting, planned move is week of May 20, 2013.  Mason Proj. Manager called for General Contractor to have telecom rooms complete on January 15, 2013.  Telecom room termination in progress.  AV Scope nearly complete.  Site requires Safety Orientation, helmet, vest, glasses, and hard shoes; access via trailer check in only.

SUB I Dining Renovation Nancy Pickens Wednesdays 12:30  Taco Bell opens Tuesday, 9/18.  All University Card office (photo ID and Mason Money) moves in late October.

University Commons Renovation Hieu Tran Tuesdays 11:00  Hanover BCOM 9/27. Furniture 10/8.  Horizontal cabling should be finished next week.  Fire alarm dial tone installation next week.  Plan for switch install if the room is ready.

Farther Out and Smaller Projects

Shenandoah Dining Expansion Hieu Tran  Schematic closer to approval and completion. $8 million project. Construction likely concurrent with Housing VIIIB.  Possible Fall 2014 completion.

Housing VIIIB Rappahannock Nancy Pickens . Completion planned Fall 2015. Located north of Fenwick, partially on Lecture Hall site.  RFP being prepared.  Currently 210 beds, 13 classrooms. Mixed use of housing, classroom and academic center.  Ductbank relocation part of the plan.

Field House Renovation Alex Iszard  WAP installation completed.

University Hall Retail Fit-out Kim Greene

 Einstein Bagels construction underway. Anticipate October opening. Net Infrastructure will do assessment. Everlasting Café – possibly January.

Tyson’s Corner Leased Academic Space

 Project on hold per VP of Facilities.

Belmont Bay Alex Iszard  Has been approved by DPB for PPEA. Land arrangement must be obtained.
