Plummer 17 18 19 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 20 21 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 22 5/17/2005 Senate Introduced, adopted, sent to House SJ-8 23 5/18/2005 House Introduced, adopted, returned with concurrence HJ-57 24 25 26 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 27 28 5/17/2005 29 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO COMMEND AND RECOGNIZE PASTOR GLENN R. 12 PLUMMER FOR HIS UNDYING COMMITMENT TO 13 CHRISTIAN BROADCASTING AND FOR THE 14 EXTRAORDINARY EXAMPLE HE SETS AS A LEADER IN 15 THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY. 16 17 Whereas, an ordained minister since 1979, Pastor Plummer has 18 been integral to the success and furtherance of Christian television 19 programming, as Chief Executive Officer of WLPC-TV26 in 20 Detroit, Michigan, and WLPN-TV61 in New Orleans, Louisiana, 21 and also founding the Christian Television Network; and 22 23 Whereas, a devoted husband and father of five children, Pastor 24 Plummer attended Northern Michigan University and Brooklyn 25 College, majoring in personnel management, and also attended 26 William Tyndale Bible College in Detroit, Michigan; and 27 28 Whereas, hosting a number of national television programs 29 throughout his career, he has spread his message of hope and 30 abiding love to a national audience, and has also taught and 31 worshipped with his local audience as senior pastor of 32 Ambassadors for Christ Church in Detroit, Michigan; and 33 34 Whereas, recently stepping down from his three-and-a-half year 35 term as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National 36 Religious Broadcasters, Pastor Plummer was the first 37 African-American in the history of the organization to hold that 38 position; and 39 40 Whereas, during his chairmanship of the National Religious 41 Broadcasters, Pastor Plummer was able to meet with President 42 George W. Bush on many occasions, praying with him and
1 [852] 1 1 ultimately advising the President on how and why he should 2 openly share his personal salvation testimony; and 3 4 Whereas, a prolific Bible teacher, Pastor Plummer has shared his 5 faith as keynote speaker at countless events, and has preached and 6 facilitated workshops at various conferences, community events, 7 and political gatherings; and 8 9 Whereas, awarded the 2004 Tourism Ambassador Award by the 10 Israel Ministry of Tourism in February 2005, Pastor Plummer has 11 even garnered international acclaim for his service. Now, 12 therefore, 13 14 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 15 concurring: 16 17 That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South 18 Carolina, by this resolution, commend and recognize Pastor Glenn 19 R. Plummer for his undying commitment to Christian broadcasting 20 and for the extraordinary example he sets as a leader of the 21 Christian community. 22 23 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 24 Pastor Glenn R. Plummer of Ambassadors for Christ Church in 25 Detroit, Michigan. 26 ----XX---- 27
