AWARD OF ICSSR INSTITUTIONAL DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS 2009-2010

Applications on prescribed form are invited for the following Institutional Doctoral Fellowships in Geography, Economics and Sociology disciplines for the year 2009-2010 tenable at this Institute. 1. Ordinary Fellowships - 03 2. Salary Protected Fellowship (Teacher Fellowship) - 01

ELIGIBILITY

1. Post Graduation in the subject with at least 55% marks. 2. The Candidates must have cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) for JRF/Lectureship or completed M.Phil. Or have published two research articles in reputed journals in social sciences (reprints to be attached). Candidate whether registered or not may apply for Institutional Doctoral Fellowship. They will have to get registered/re-registered as the case may be, within six months from the award of fellowship. Non- NET candidates are required to pass Entrance Test for Ph.D. Registration to be conducted by CSJM University, Kanpur.

AGE The upper age limit for a doctoral fellow is below 35 years (relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST). For teachers and professional staff of research institute holding regular posts the upper age limit would be 45 years.

SELECTION PROCEDURE The short-listed candidates are interviewed by an Expert Committee. Those succeed in the interview are awarded a Doctoral Fellowship by the ICSSR.

VALUE OF FELLOWSHIP The selected candidates will be paid a fellowship amount of Rs.6000/-per month for NET and Rs.5000/- for NON-NET plus Rs.12000/- per annum as contingency grant. Duration of the fellowship is two years and extendable by one year in exceptional cases only. Under the Salary Protected Scheme, employed scholar will get his/her salary plus contingency grant @ Rs.12000/- p.a. The duration of the fellowship is two years only.

LAST DATE

Last date for the issue of application form is 16.08.2009 and receipt of completed application form is 31.08.2009. Application form can be obtained from the Institute personally or by sending self-address stamped Rs.10/- envelope (size 25.5x20.5cms.).
