AMERICA’S ARMY GAME FACT SHEET

America's Army (www.americasarmy.com) is an innovative first person action game series that provides civilians with an inside perspective and a virtual role in today’s high-tech Army. The game reflects the bedrocks of Soldiering to include adherence to Army Values, the importance of training and individual development, as well as the necessity of teamwork and leadership for success in small unit actions and missions. In the America's Army game, players are bound by Rules of Engagement (ROE) as they take part in multiplayer force on force operations.

The Army launched America's Army in July of 2002, America’s Army: Special Forces in 2003, and America’s Army 3 in June 2009. The Army released a beta version of America’s Army: Proving Grounds in August 2013 and the final PC version was released in October 2015. The Playstation 4 version is set to release summer 2017. Players can experience the current day Army with America’s Army: Proving Grounds which brings the best features of the previous games to an AA environment that stresses small unit tactical maneuvers. The game is rated T for Teen and can be downloaded free from Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/203290/) and on the Playstation Store.

America's Army is produced by the Army Game Studio, part of the AMRDEC Software Engineering Directorate at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama. The Army Game Studio houses the development and management staff for the America's Army online game and comic as well as numerous Military and Government applications. Major commands and field units of the U.S. Army provide subject matter experts to support development of game models and scenarios.

America’s Army:  Presents a virtual world in which players explore Soldiering in the U.S. Army by learning how Soldiers train and employ teamwork and leadership to accomplish the mission.  Is rated “T” for Teen by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.  Reflects the current day Army by working directly with U.S. Army Soldier Subject Matter Experts who are involved in every step of design, development and testing and are used in the motion capture studio to ensure all movements are authentically Army.  Showcases the values, units, equipment, technologies, and careers that make the Army the world’s premier land force.  Is unique due to the role that core Army Values, such as honor, integrity, duty, and selfless service, as well as realistic rules of engagement (ROE), play in player success within the game.

America’s Army: Proving Grounds features:  A reflection of the current day Army by focusing on smaller self-contained, full spectrum units that can carry out a variety of objectives during missions. Players engage in small u nit tactical maneuvers and training that echoes true-to-life Army scenarios.  Players are in the role of an 11B Infantryman as part of a Long Range Combined Arms – Recon (LRCA-R) unit, a full spectrum capable team that embarks on special operations missions behind enemy lines.  Several training exercises designed to sharpen small unit maneuver skills. Battledrill Exe rcises (BDX) are small engagements of 6 players vs. 6 players. These fast-paced maps fo cus on teaching players how to work as a team and learn basic skills and maneuvers. The game also features Forward Line Operation (FLO) missions for 12 vs. 12 players. These l arger mission-based exercises require players to use several skills learned in their Battledr ills to achieve success. Playstation 4 uses an 8 vs. 8 player format.  The ability to apply medical aid to stop your bleeding allows players to maintain their health and stay in the game for completion of the mission.  Situational Awareness where the enemy can be spotted by one player and then an icon is displayed over the enemy’s head for a few seconds.  Integrated Voice Over IP for efficient team communication.  Standard Army force-on-force training practices so that players always perceive they are Soldiers in the U.S. Army. Using this technique, a player’s comrades always appear to b e in U.S. Army uniforms. The opposing force always appears to be in enemy uniforms.  Missions and maps are driven by the America’s Army Comics series. The comics tell the s tory of U.S. Soldiers deployed to Czervenia, a tiny foreign nation in the middle of a chaot ic conflict. What starts as a humanitarian relief effort quickly escalates into something mu ch more dangerous and mysterious that could change the course of the world.  Realistic equipment and military hardware such as such as the M9A1 & M1911 Pistol, 870 MCS shotgun, M14EBR-RI sniper rifle, M24 sniper rifle, M4A1 and the M249 Saw. Players can also use the M67 fragmentation grenade, M106 Fast Obscurant Grenade and the M84 Stun Grenade as well as optics that include the M68 Close Combat Optic, M553 Holographic Weapon Sight, M150 ACOG 4x Optic, Elcan M145 and Ghost Ring Sight.  Parental controls allow parents the ability to change the game into paintball type play and turn off voice and text chat. (PC Version Only)  Shoot Houses for players to practice their skills with all the weapons in the game. Players are able to increase their speed, accuracy and target identification skills through a number of challenges, and then they can compare their performance against the community. (PC Version Only)  The AA:PG Mission Editor allows players to create their own missions and share them with the community through the Steam Workshop. (PC Version Only)  As players complete challenges on each weapon they unlock the ability to change the weapon skin on their weapon and new optics become available.  Players can customize the camo pattern of their team’s uniform and the colors change based on the environment they are in.  Players can customize the gear loadout of their Soldier to place their grenades and extra mags in different places or select a different backpack that others see on their Soldier.
